About this Cook
Mom of 3. All but one have moved out. WOW - - I just had to delete almost my WHOLE profile because it had to do with my EX husband!! (sad) I LOVE to cook, love to create and succeed at it! I'd be lying if I said that I've never failed at a recipe, but as long as I taste while I'm cooking, it doesn't happen. I'm
My favorite things to cook
Chicken and Dumplings,Green Chili and Chicken Pot Pie. I could make these in my sleep! Never follow a recipie (although I could write the basics down I guess....) and people just love them all.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom has a HUGE scrapbook where she has collected recipies - I started my own years ago and although not as HUGE as hers, it is a fun collection and used more than my cook books (although this website is becoming a fast 2nd - I will print off my favorites from here and cut and paste into my book). But what I REALLY love are the favorite recipes that friends and family have written in their own handwriting that I have kept!
My cooking triumphs
I'm really good at "throwing together". My husband is always surprised when I come up with a dinner when he could SWEAR there is nothing in the house to cook. I know how to taste and add. Now that WORKS with cooking, but not with baking... :-( **BUT** I've found I can do it with PIES and still have that same fun - where I will think that something might taste good and as long as I have a good crust, it usually will!

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies VI
This is the 4th time I've made this recipe and when I make cookies, it is usually just chocolate chip cookies! But a good friend requested oatmeal raisin cookies and thankfully I decided on THIS recipe. The ONLY thing I do differently is add walnuts. These stay moist and chewy even in high altitude

No Bake Cookies V
I had my niece and nephew over and we used this recipe for CHRISTMAS cookies and it was perfect! They are 4 and 7 and almost made them all by themselves, then as I was spooning on to the wax paper, they were right behind me with sprinkles and red-hots... perfect and easy to decorate (who woulda thunk?) They had a ball and it was E-A-S-Y!
