Beer Cheese Soup I

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2007
This recipe is for a genuine, and good, beer cheese soup. It was definitely worth the effort. The only warning I would give, is that you can taste the beer, so pick what beer you want to use wisely, and don't expect people who hate the taste of beer to like the soup. They don't have to really love beer, but at least not hate it.

Prize Winning Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: May 23, 2014
Great easy recipe. May not make the perfect fall-off-the-bones ribs, but they're good enough for me, and the simplicity is worth it. I like to use riblets for this--they're cheaper and taste just as good (I kinda think they're better)!

Conchas (Mexican Sweet Bread)

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2007
This is a nice recipe, and fairly easy to make. My only difficulty was with the cinamon-topping; it ended up too crumbly and wouldn't stay together. It was probably my own fault, but if you have that problem too, I recommend adding a teaspoon of water to that part. And by the way, I didn't notice on my own, but my dad pointed out that this is basically a fairly normal bread with sugar cookies on top. He thought I should've just made plain sugar cookies, but I personally prefer this.

Traditional Chicken Keleguin

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2012
This is one of my favorite recipes to make. It takes a while to make, but it's simple, healthy, and delicious. I usually cut back on the red pepper flakes, as that much makes it very powerful. My wife and I like to wrap this in warm tortillas. It is also good cold as leftovers.

Butt Stompin' Barbeque Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2009
This was pretty good. My girlfriend can't handle excessively spicy things, so I cut the chili sauce in half, and didn't use the habanero. I also added 1/2 cup of soy sauce. Was easy to make, too!

A Pad Thai Worth Making

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2011
A great Pad Thai recipe. I cut the fish sauce / oyster sauce in half, omit the shrimp (my wife doesn't like them) and add a little extra lime (since we really like that). Next time I make it I'll try the extra tamarind--that sounds good too.

Smokin' Scovilles Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2013
This is one of my favorite allrecipes recipes. Fast, easy, and most importantly awesomely tasty! I do like making a few modifications though. First, I use two habaneros and leave one whole. It still isn't terribly spicy like that, but I think it's nice. I also like adding a cup of chopped mushrooms (sautee them with the onion). For the meat I don't usually have ground turkey, but I find 1 pound ground beef and 1 pound finely chopped boneless skinless chicken thighs are a really good alternative. Finally, I like to top it with a bit of cheddar and some plain greek yogurt (which I use as a healthy substitute for sour cream). Overall, I definitely recommend you try this recipe!

Caramelized Brussels Sprouts with Pistachios

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2013
Awesome recipe. Almonds are a good substitute for the pistachios if you don't have pistachios on hand.

Kartoffel Kloesse (Potato Dumplings)

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2009
It's a good inexpensive thing to cook, but if you follow the recipe straight, you better hope you like a lot of butter and onion flavor!
