I made this exactly as instructed on Christmas Eve to serve the next day as dessert. This was my first time attempting a log and it came out perfectly! The cake rolled up nicely without cracking to cool, and both frostings were delicious! The one thing I'd like to make clear is that when first mixing the yolk/cocoa, etc mixture, it takes on a very thick slugde-like consistency... If you just mix in the stiff egg whites this will smooth out and take on a lovely silky texture. I used a meringue mushrooms recipe from this site to decorate and dusted the whole thing with cocoa powder and powdered sugar. This was an absolute hit at Christmas dinner - I can't wait to make it next year!
