I've been cooking for a long time, for my husband and two boys and for our extended family. I cook when I'm nervous--like during a Steeler football game when the score is close! I like to cook for friends, old and new.
My favorite things to cook
My DH and I have blended our families traditions so we have traditional foods for specific holidays: Italian (him) Xmas eve, German (me) New Year's Day, Irish (me) St. Patrick's Day and also have the standard American Thanksgiving and Fourth of July.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Italian: Biscotti, Ravioli, Strufoli, Tomato Sauce, Clam Sauce.
Irish: Roasted Corned Beef, Colcannon and Irish Soda Bread
German: Sauerkraut and Pork.
My cooking triumphs
Figuring out my M-I-L's recipe for Rice Pudding by trial and error, perfecting our biscotti recipe, knowing when to take shortcuts and when not to!
My cooking tragedies
A tasteless chocolate cake with the texture of sawdust was a true tragedy--it looked GREAT though!
