Grilled Asparagus

Reviewed: May 25, 2010
Some of the reviewers are over-complicating this recipe. The beauty of the recipe is the simplicity and speed. If you want fast, delicious asparagus cook this as written. You will not be disappointed.

Shredded Vegetable Slaw

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2010
This was a unique and tangy slaw. I liked that it was creamy without being mayonnaise based. I used plain Kefir instead of yogurt so it was even more tangy. I cut the sesame oil to 1tsp because that is all it takes to get the flavor.

Lentils for Stagflation

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2008
I think this is great. I was looking for a quick curry recipe where I didn't have to make the curry from scratch. It tastes great with chickpeas too.

Brussels Sprouts in Mustard Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2008
This recipe was great. I don't think it needed as much cornstarch to thicken the sauce so I might just cut back on that next time. I was looking for a good low-fat preparation for brussel sprouts and I know I have found my new method for cooking them.

Tomato-Cream Sauce for Pasta

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2008
I think this is an excellent sauce. I added meat to mine because I like meat sauce but it is definitely optional.

Sweet & Sour Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2008
Awful. I followed this recipe exactly as written and I just didn't like the flavors. The combination of balsamic and maple syrup didn't combine well on the sprouts. I will not be making this recipe again.

Chocolate Cupcakes

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2008
The taste was good but I did need to bake them for about 22 minutes to make them firm. That was the reason for the lower rating.

Sour Cream Frosting

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2008
I thought this was perfect. I didn't think it was too thin, like other reviewers commented. The flavor was great. It was reminiscent of cream cheese frosting. Very good and very versatile.

Easy Hummus

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2007
It was not as creamy as I am accustomed to when I eat hummus. I suspect that is because it doesn't have the tahini. I thought the garlic was a bit overpowering but I'm sure it will mellow in the refrigerator overnight so I wouldn't cut down on that just yet. It is a great base recipe to start with and it is just plain easy when you are pregnant and have these insane hummus cravings like me. : )

Dad's Pan-Fried Green Beans

My husband loved it but I thought they were a bit bland so I put the rating in the middle. Recipe was followed as written.

Restaurant-Style Taco Meat Seasoning

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2007
I made the recipe as written. My three-year old ate two whole tacos and my 18-month old ate half of one taco. That is really saying something about the flavor when both kids eat heartily. My husband and I enjoyed the flavor as well. I will definitely make it again.

Dad's Steak Rub

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2007
This is good for a quick rub. It will only work on a good cut of meat. I tried it on porterhouse and it was fabulous. I tried it on a cheaper cut of meat and it was not so good.

Savory Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2007
I thought it was fabulous gravy. I upped the flour to the reccomended 2 tbsp per cup of liquid and it thickened up nicely. Also, I had used the herbed turkey recipe from this site which gave a wonderful flavor to the gravy. All I added was the poultry seasoning. I left out the rest since I already had seasoned drippings.

Chinese Chicken Fried Rice II

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2007
This is surprisingly flavorful for so few ingredients. I found the pepper to be a bit much so I may reduce it next time around. I added more chicken, rice, peas, broccoli, and bell peppers to help tame the spiciness from the pepper. It runed out very delicious and healthy with the addition of the vegetable.

Grilled Salmon Kyoto

We love this recipe. My kids gobbled it up and asked me to make it again the next day. I also use regular orange juice instead of concentrate. It's a personal preference for a less sweet taste.

My kids love it too! I yellow-corn and flax-seed tortilla chips for the coating. It is extra crunchy and lower in carbs too.

Grain and Nut Whole Wheat Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2007
These are great and so healthy. I added chopped banana. So good. I also used pecans since I didn't have walnuts. I still loved them. We eat them plain because they are so good. If you add bananas it sweetens the batter so I will reduce the sugar next time.
