I am a 24 year old full-time college student, full-time worker. When I can find the time to cook or bake they are my most favorite hobbies. I live in Orange, CA with my boyfriend of 5 years. We have 2 cats that are pretty much our kids and we enjoy BBQ'n on the weekends on our little tiny grill. I am pretty much a self-taught cook with slight influence from my mother, as I only lived with her for several years of my life. After that, it was up to me to make dinner and I wanted to make sure it was some good stuff so I taught myself to basics of cooking and have rode this train ever since with no looking back. I research every recipe before trying it and AllRecipes is great for this because I can compare several recipes to make one that I would like.
My favorite things to cook
Pepper Steak, Chicken Stir-Fry, Chicken Enchiladas, Baked Ziti, Coconut Shrimp, Cookies, Brownies, Pies, Cakes, Breads, Muffins, Pasta, Dips, Chips, Taquitos, Authentic Mexican Food, CUPCAKES!, Spanish Rice, Beans, Marinated Grilled Tri-Trip, Philly Cheese Steaks, Green Chile Chicken Stoup, 15 Bean Soup, Vegetable Beef Stoup, Corned Beef and Cabbage....the list is endless, really.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I started a new Thanksgiving tradition of Pumpkin Cheesecake! Everyone looks forward to it :)
My cooking triumphs
-Banana Crumb Muffins....even my picky picky sister said they were delicious and nothing needed to be changed!
-Pretty much everyone that tries my Chicken Enchiladas says they are the best ones they have ever had and some didn't even like enchiladas before.
-One of the very first recipes I looked up on All Recipes was Baked Ziti. That was probably 4-5 years ago! Ever since then I have tweaked it and perfected it and it is now requested very often for family get-togethers.
My cooking tragedies
Oh man, the ones that most come to mind are cooking potatoes in the oven at very high heat for a lengthy amount of time when something had dripped onto the bottom of the oven the previous time we had used it and it decides to smoke out the apartment and set off all of our fire alarms. Yea, that was fun. And also said oven is very old and the correct temperature is something we rarely get so I have yet to make a successful banana bread. I will keep trying though... I will not be defeated! =)
