Lobster Bisque

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2011
Wonderful! Very easy and perfectly delicious. I used 1 cup milk and 1 cup heavy cream, but would have been fine with all milk. Thanks for the great recipe. I'll be making this often.

A+++ Perfect recipe. Thank you ABBY9. I followed the recipe exactly as written and these were excellent. Great for a fall night snack after some hide and seek in the dark with our 7 children.

Sausage Pasta

Made this exactly as written and my family of 10 all liked it! Very simple and very tasty. Don't skimp on the garlic, it's a must. This will be a regular on our table. Thanks Tammy!

Slow Cooker Cassoulet

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2010
5 Stars! But I did make a couple changes to suit my family. First, used mild italian sausage and browned meats before adding to crock pot - not necessary, but does add a nice flavor. Second - Added 1 cup chicken stock along with the wine for more sauce. Last - thickened the juices with water and corn starch before serving. DELICIOUS!

Playgroup Granola Bars

This recipe is now a staple in my house. Liked by all - from Granny right down to preschoolers. Easy and tasty AND healthy. I subbed ground flaxseed for the wheat germ and it worked great. Thanks!

Guy Approved Meatloaf

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2010
We tried this recipe months ago and it has become our family's first choice for meatloaf. I only had bacon bits for the top, but it was still excellent. Just had it last night and my husband commented on how tasty it was. Definitely a KEEPER!!

Easy Pumpkin Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2009
AMAZING! These are more of a cake-like muffin, but quick, easy, inexpensive, and very tasty. I actually used squash instead of pumpkin, added a cup of chocolate chips, and did have to add about a TBS of water. I'll definitely make these again. My family liked them a lot.

Country Fried Steak and Milk Gravy

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2009
YUM! This is a keeper. Only one of my eight children didn't care for it. I had to triple it for my family of ten, but everything worked out great. It's a little time intensive, but worth the effort, especially the gravy. I did add some beef boullion since my children like "meat" gravy and I didn't want to turn them off. This was a perfect addition and made the whole dinner a real hit. I'm smilin'!!

BBQ Chicken Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2009
Doubled this and served it to company. Daring, huh? Well, everyone really liked it, even the children. I didn't use all the mustard as my hubby doesn't care for it that much. It's a little sweeter than most BBQ's and really good with the slaw on top!! I'll definitely make this again.

Crab Stuffed Haddock

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2008
THIS IS RESTAURANT STUFF!! My 19 year old son had this at a restaurant once and loved it, so he requested it for his birthday dinner. I was doubtful that I could even come close but this recipe, with a few changes, really fit the bill. I was amazed!! My revisions are as follows: I omitted the tomato from the stuffing and added 1/4 cup of white wine to the mixture. I'm sure flaked crabmeat is the best choice, but to save money, I used imitation and it was still fine. Last of all, because I had doubled the recipe, I made it like a casserole by spreading the stuffing mixture on the bottom of a greased 9x13 dish, layering the fish filets on top, and then drizzling the top with melted butter. It baked until bubbly, about 35 minutes. WONDERFUL - THANKS FOR SHARING!!!!!

Zucchini Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2008
Wow, this is great!! Very tasty and a super way to use up the zucchini. Even better warmed up the next day!! One note, I wouldn't use 6 LARGE zucchini, that would be far to much. I think the recipe should read: 6 small zucchini. You could even serve it as a breakfast/brunch dish. Don't skimp on the onions, they are a key ingredient. Will DEFINITELY make this again and again. Thanks for sharing!!

Oven Scrambled Eggs

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2008
I thought these were absolutely WONDERFUL - light, fluffy, and VERY tasty. Great for a crowd, but be forewarned that doubling or tripling the recipe also doubles or triples the cooking time. AND - strangely enough, they cook from the top down! :-) My family didn't care for them as much as I did, but only because they like their scrambled eggs really firm. I think this is a keeper - especially for company!!!

Emily's Famous Marshmallows

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2008
OH MY GOODNESS!!! Who ever thought you could make marshmallows from scratch!!! What fun!! Take heed to all the advice for using a LARGE sauce pan as the sugar-mix does expand significantly when you add the gelatin. But don't worry! If you're prepared for it, it'll be fine. I made these with my 3 daughters and 3 friends. We were all really impressed! What an impressive science experiment. I can't say I'll give up completely on store bought marshmallows, simply because of convenience, but I'll definitely make these again, just for the fun of it. Thanks HBIC!!

Wine Sauce Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2008
WOW!! This is really DELICIOUS and most of my family of 10 agreed! The only change I made was to saute 1-2 cloves of FRESH MINCED garlic in the 2 TBS butter, THEN put it in the 9x13 pan. If you do this, skip the garlic powder in the sauce. After baking, it was necessary to whisk the sauce a bit to smooth it out, but we served it over noodles and there was plenty of the cheesey, wine-y, garlicky mix to suite everyone's preferences. Thanks Kay!!

Baked French Toast

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2008
Fabulous!! This recipe was a huge hit for all my family. A super recipe for a busy morning as all the major prep is done the night before. I even assembled all the topping ingredients in a sauce pan the night before so the next morning, all I had to do was turn on the burner and go! We'll definitely have this again. Thanks for sharing.

Hamburger Hash Browns

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2008
Very tasty and very easy. I'll definitely make this again. I didn't add the veggies, as my husband doesn't like them in casseroles. Worked just as well without them. My family of 10 said the recipe was a keeper; from Dad right down to the 3 year old! That's a real testimony.

Buttermilk Cinnamon Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2007
Made this to take to a friend's house and everyone enjoyed it; both my my family of 10 and theirs, of 9!! Really quick and easy. Great as a breakfast bread or a side for dinner. Will definitely make it again. Pans are not too full when assembled, but made two loaves easily. It does 'rise' a little during baking.
