Baked Potato Soup I
Well the end product came out good but I had a few issues....I did not know (as it did not state) whether or not you needed to COOK the potatoes before or not. It said large baked potatoes, I figured that means those big russett types, it didn't say you should actually bake the potato, so I have no idea what the actual recipe called for. I actually used a 3 pound bag of organic yellow potatoes, peeled, chopped (and I had no idea, so threw them in raw), so this whole recipe took a while to cook through. I used butter (margarine is toxic to your system, and I can't stand the taste, butter all the way). For the milk, I used whole milk. I didn't use green onions, I took one regular onion chopped, and a clove of garlic, browned in some butter in a pan then threw it in the pot. The rest of the recipe I followed, it came out SO tasty. Everyone loved it. I made this in my Le Creuset dutch oven. I also saved a few slices of super crispy bacon for the top, crushed once I put the soup in a bread bowl.

I followed this exactly, with the exception of the cilantro. I could not believe how salty it was. WAY too much salt. I would suggest no more than 1/2 tsp. salt. I don't think I would make this again.

White Chili with Ground Turkey
I made this according to the recipe - tasted it, and this was so watery, more of a soup then a chili. I also did not care for the flavor, too much cumin - that seemed like an overpowering ingredient. I didn't want to trash this - so here is what I did to make this not only edible, but delicious. My kids were saying that it tasted exactly like 'Wendy's' Chili after I fixed it. I browned the turkey and was left with big chunks - I decided to blend it in a food processor to make the pieces uniform/smaller. I browned my onions/garlic alone. I through all of this into a crockpot, and added the other ingredients. I also think you should cut back on the chicken broth (use only 4 cups). I used two cannellini beans and one dark kidney beans (rinse many times and drain first). I added two bottles of Chili Sauce (I think they were roughly 15 oz. each, can't recall just bought them at Walmart). I also added 2 T. Chili powder. With these changes it came out really good. I am giving this one star for the original recipe (my version 4 star).
