Souvlaki

We loved this!! My husband couldn't stop complimenting me and my picky daughter had seconds! Grilled perfectly. My other picky eaters don't like bbq so I just cooked theirs in a wok in the house. Will cook many more times. THanks!

Baked Soy Lemon Chops

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2008
I've made this twice now and we've loved it both times! The only difference I made was using low sodium soy sauce and I add a half teaspoon of ginger and a dash of onion salt. Great and easy recipe.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2008
SOOO delicious!! I've had shrimp with mayo before so I knew this was going to be a hit. It's even better warmed up the next day because the flavors have seeped into the fish.

Ty's Barbequed Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2007
Very good and easy! I didn't put onions cause we're not big on onions but I did add onion powder, garlic powder, and a tbsp of minced garlic to the marinade. We loved it!

Easy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2007
Reminded me of the sugar cookies we had at school growing up. I made them quickly yesterday and my family loved them! I did frost half of them and they were just as good.

Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2007
I wish I had read the reviews more than just the first few. The meat was looking great (I added parsley flakes for color) but as soon as I made the sauce in the bowl I knew this was not gonna be good. The smell of ketchup was so overpowering. Took a taste and sure enough. It tasted like brown watery ketchup. Too bad cause you can't take it out once it's in. I added a can of Cream of Mushroom hoping this would help. It was a little better. It's still cooking but I give it bad ratings when it comes to the original recipe.

Best Beef and Broccoli

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2007
I have made this several times but never reviewed. This is SO good! The one and only thing that I change is that I add minced garlic to the beef when cooking it. I also omit the onions (picky kids) but add onion powder. As for the meat being tough, since I have cooked this many times, I have also ended up with tough meat. I found the answer. I saw on several cooking shows that if you cut against the grain of the meat (in the opposite direction)..it makes it almost fall apart. I let mine simmer for 30 mins. This is one of our favorites and even my picky non vegetable eaters love this meal!!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2007
This was so easy and good. Only made a few changes. I added a few dashes of chicken bouillon to the water and veggies. Forgot to buy the peas but added a can of drained new potatoes. Omitted the onions but added onion powder. Also, added just about a fourth of a cup of cream of celery soup to the chicken broth/milk mixture as it cooked. I made this for my mom since it's her favorite dish when we go out to eat. She LOVED it and so did my picky 10 year old. Thanks!

Filipino Lumpia

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2007
This was SOOO good. Reminds me so much of the lumpia that the ladies at my church would make. I omitted the onions since I have picky kids and used onion salt instead. Also....to make this SO much easier on you, I bought the coleslaw bag of cabbage, and a bag of shredded carrots. I did put the carrots in a chopper to mince them but the already shredded cabbage made this recipe the easiest ever. Also, my mother in law suggested mixing corn starch with water in a bowl and using that as the glue. Worked like a charm. I froze the extra rolls for easy frying next time!

Shrimp Scampi Bake

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2007
I felt it needed a little salt after it was all said and done and you have to eat this with some type of pasta. We had it with angel hair pasta. Also...I have no idea why everyone is commenting on the amount of butter. Scampi is supposed to be drenched in butter. We felt it actually could have used just a bit more! Of course we're from the south so the more butter the better.

Brown Sugar Smokies

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2007
Was a bit messy to make but SO good. I took some advice from earlier posters and dipped them in brown sugar rather than sprinkling it on them. The more sugar...the better! Also, put foil on the cookie sheet...and I skipped the skewers and just used toothpicks.

Chicken Tetrazzini IV

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2007
Very good recipe. It does take a lot of time to make if you have to cook the "cooked" cubes of chicken but it is delicious and I love taking the time to cook. My fiancee did say it needed a bit more sauce my between you and me...I liked it just the way it was!

Easy Slow Cooker Carne Guisada

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2007
I'm rating this in the middle cause I changed the cut of meat. I used chunked stew meat because that's what my mom always cooked with and it's already cut. It smelled heavenly all day but when I finally opened it at the end of the day it was full of some kind of red grease (which I almost see in the picture submitted. It definately was nothing I could pour over rice or anything like that. I drained the meat completely and we still ate it. The flavor was real good. Needed just a bit of salt. I'll try a different recipe next time.

Guam Fried Rice

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2007
my mother in law makes this when we go visit so I wanted to try it. It came out much saltier than hers. Next time I think I'll use low sodium soy and spam. I also tried the shrimp idea but it made the whole dish taste too fishy. I'll stick to spam next time.

Leftover Chicken Croquettes

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2007
I found this by chance just glancing and I had leftover rotiserie chicken in the fridge and all the other ingredients. I made it and my family LOVED it! I added some cajun seasoning because I add it to all food and it was delicious and I did make some cream and chicken soup to dip them in for the kids and it was a hit. I will make this every time I buy a chicken. Thank you!!
