Salisbury Steak with Mushrooms

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2015
The only thing I added was a bit of Worcestershire sauce to the gravy and the meat mixture, and it was absolutely delicious with mashed potatoes and garden peas. I appreciate the lack of canned soups etc. for a healthier meal as well-plus it's cheaper to make! Will make again and again!!

Creamed Peas and Potatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2011
This is comfort food at it's finest! We always double the recipe so we can have leftovers. Usually I use whole milk or even some half and half to add richness. I could eat this every day, it's so good.

Double Quick Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2011
These rolls were a huge hit at our house. I was so happy to find something fast, yet homemade. I did use melted butter instead of vegetable oil and a small amount of garlic powder. These will be requested often!

My Best Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2010
Very good chowder. I used a can of oysters and a can of clams for variety, plus I used sherry since I had no red wine vinegar. Delicious!

Cinnamon Rolls I

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2009
These rolls were wonderful. I used only two teaspoons of cinnamon rather than the full tablespoon as directed. I used my bread machine on the pizza dough setting to knead and rise the dough, then placed the cut rolls into a greased 9x13 pan in the fridge overnight. They were done in 15 minutes! For the frosting I used melted butter, a little light karo syrup, powdered sugar, a tad of vanilla and a little real maple syrup. Yum!! Much better than cinnamon rolls from a can and just about as easy. Thanks for the recipe.

Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2009
This frosting is so smooth it's not even funny! I added a little more vanilla and sugar to suit my tastes, but I did end up halving the whole recipe to frost the top of a 9x13 cake. Delicious.

Best Moist Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2009
This cake is very moist, but not chocolately enough for my tastes. Not sure if I will try it again with more cocoa or if I should go to another recipe. The sides got a little too brown while the center wasn't done. Anyone know how to prevent this?

Simple White Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2009
I just wanted folks to know that if you use whole eggs for this recipe, you will get yellow cake, which is not a bad thing in and of itself. If you want a white cake as pictured, use only egg whites and perhaps clear vanilla. I used the stand mixer and beat everything very well and added 1/4 cup extra milk and the cake came out moist and delicious. Thumbs up from the kids. I didn't think it rose as much as I would've liked but perhaps it's time for me to replace the baking powder. I topped it with a chocolate buttercream icing and it got rave reviews.

Strawberry Freezer Jam

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2009
Came out a little runnier than I had hoped but the flavor was excellent. I used frozen strawberries that we had picked last summer. Very happy with it.

Lemon Icing

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2009
This lemon frosting turned out just beautifully with a few modifications. I added 1 teaspoon (effectively doubling)vanilla extract, then added 2 T. cream and 1 T. milk as it was a little dry as written. I also used high quality bottled lemon juice (3 T.). Went so well with the lemon cake I made. I topped the whole thing off with a little shredded coconut and it was awesome! Everyone gobbled it up. Would be wonderful for Easter. Thanks for a great recipe!

Bread Machine Bagels

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2009
I thought these were very good and tasted just like the ones we've bought from good bakeries. The bread machine makes it easy. I did use 2 T. molasses in place of the sugar. May try the sugar next time.

English Muffin Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2009
I made this in the bread machine and it turned out quite well. It held up just like the grocery store kind when we put chicken salad on top.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2008
Wow! This was my first attempt ever at making meat loaf and it turned out fabulous! Note that we do prefer a sweeter meatloaf. I did include the ground ginger and also put 1 tsp. worcestershire sauce in with the meat mixture. Added 1/2 tsp. worcestershire sauce to the glaze. What a wonderful recipe. Thanks for posting it!

Honey Wheat Bread I

Reviewed: May 26, 2008
This was my first time using my Kitchenaid mixer for making bread as my old bread machine finally gave up the ghost. I don't think I 'll be buying another bread machine any time soon as this recipe was so superior! I did use regular milk heated up to 110 degrees and used a little sugar and a touch more salt and it came out so wonderfully with a texture that just melted in our mouths. Try this recipe!!
