About this Cook
I'm a Firefighter/Paramedic in the magnificent city of Indianapolis who would rather see flames on a grill than in the workplace...
My favorite things to cook
If I could bake everything, I'd be set! To me, baking is a piece of cake...(Ha, bad pun! Eesh.) I did my first wedding cake last October, and it was a 3-tiered phenomenon. I'm really excited to do another one! I love cooking breakfast and brunch, because I can combine my strength with pastry along with my sweet luck with breakfast meat. I'm a big fan of crock pot cooking, especially in the fall and winter. My favorite food is sushi, but I'm not brave enough to make it at home, only because my ability to make sushi rice is AWFUL.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Baking on weekends was my favorite. It usually went like this: Me: "Mom, I wanna make something." Mom: "Well, what do you want to make?" Me: (Non-verbally) "A mess."
My cooking triumphs
I can make a coffee cake that would probably make your grandmother cry.
My cooking tragedies
Sushi rice has me a little spooked. The first time I tried it at home, it was a giant, vinegary blob of goo. The second time, it was a giant, slightly vinegary blob of goo. The third time...hasn't been attempted because I'm afraid of the giant, not-so-vinegary ball of goo that will probably happen in my kitchen.

Buttermilk Cinnamon Rolls
Holy cow. These were sensational! What an easy recipe to follow, completely dummy-proof. I would recommend that you take the time do to this the night before, then let 'em rise overnight. 90 minutes does not include the time I took to make coffee, yawn a lot and explain to my boyfriend what yeast does. Plus, I made a batch of homemade cream cheese frosting and covered those suckers in creamy goodness. Anyway, here are my (only) change: Next time, I'm going to double the brown sugar mixture, and crumble it on top before I bake. I found that most of the goo melted to the bottom, and I like my roll to have it through-n-through. Otherwise, they were absolutely delicious. Thank you!

Coconut Rice
I added peas to mine and it was super-tasty. I also just used regular 'ol powder ginger and used regular 'ol white rice. It totally satisfied my midnight curry craving. Thanks!

Pumpkin Parfait
I was looking for a way to use up a big 'ol can of pumpkin that I'd had in my cupboard forever. This stuff was so tasty, that it'll be making a regular appearance in my lunch box. It's nice and spicy, and rich. I'm not diabetic, but I am trying to lose weight and this is a nice way to splurge without goin' overboard. For what it is, I give it 4 stars. Thanks!
