Garlic Pickled Eggs

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2009
I enjoy these eggs. My husband hates them! Just so you know, 12 eggs, one onion, etc. don't fit into the jar called for! No way! You need to either use a bigger jar, two jars, or less ingredients. The onions turn white. The eggs get very rubbery. I think it's a yummy treat from the standard hard boiled egg. I will make these again even though I'm the only one who will eat them!

Molasses Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2009
Yummy! I wouldn't call them sugar cookies though! They are really ginger snap cookies! I love ginger snaps! If you are looking for a sugar cookie, then I don't think you want this recipe. However, if you like ginger snaps, then I think you will enjoy these! The perfect combo of chewy & soft. This is a keeper!

Cranberry-Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2009
I followed the recipe exactly. These were very tasty fresh out of the oven. Very slight crisp to the edges & very soft everywhere else. I was very happy with them until I tried one the next day. It was so soft, almost soft & moist enough to break apart. I took a bite. No taste. Bland. Not appealing at all. I gave it to the chickens. My husband says he likes them but it's taking him a long time to eat them...

Cranberry Orange Loaf

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2009
I followed the recipe exactly. While baking it poured over the sides of the loaf pan & all over the bottom of the oven. Burning & smoke were my alert. I shut the oven off, took out the bread, cleaned it all up, then put it back in the oven. I added extra time to bake. It came out flat & the flavor wasn't anything to get excited about. Normally cranberry orange type dishes are bursting with flavor. Not so here. I wont make this again.

Vegan Split Pea Soup I

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2009
I was concerned that this would come out bland with all that water and no broth what so ever. I threw everything into the slow cooker(no pre-cook or saute) & added about 4 extra cups of water. Let it cook on low for 7 hours. Delicious! We are not vegans but we do eat vegan on occassion. We will make this again. It's a keeper!

Easy to make & the dogs just gobble them up. Even the fussy dogs! We have made these several times now. No alterations to the recipe. It's perfect!

Peanut Butter Carrot Cookies

Reviewed: May 25, 2008
This is a pretty good recipe. I've had better. I wont make it again. There are some really bad cookie recipies out there, this is not one of them. If I didn't know better or have better recipes, I probably would have given this 5 stars. The texture is a bit moist after baking. I prefer my cookies to be crisp on the outside & chewy in the middle. I suppose you could play around with this, but then it really isn't the recipe is it? At least you can get your kids to eat a bit of carrot. I would say it's worth trying out since we all have different tastes. You just might love them.

No Bake Bumpy Peanut Butter Nuggets

Reviewed: May 18, 2008
I think these taste a bit bland. Unlike many others, I didn't deviate from the recipe. I think these would be good with more spices. I don't miss the sugar at all.

Orange Cranberry Drops

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2008
Wow! Great recipe! A keeper! I didn't have orange extract, but I did have lemon extract. I used that & it came out great! I can only imagine how fabulous these would be if I had the proper extract! Wonderful aroma & texture! A keeper!

Cranberry Orange Oat Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2008
I changed nothing & followed the recipe exactly. Flat & flavorless. It's horrible to waste food with the costs rising the way they are, but we wont eat this. Luckily we have many free-ranging chickens who got to have the entire batch! I would give this 0 stars if I could.

Spaghetti Squash I

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2008
Very tasty variation for spaghetti squash. Will make again and again. I would give this 4.5 stars if I could. I still like a nice red sauce on my spaghetti squash better. This is so easy to prepare! We enjoyed it very much. By the way, I followed the recipe exactly, no variations.

Salmon with Tomatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2008
This was a pretty easy recipe & tasted pretty darn good! I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could! Very nice ingredient combination. Salmon comes out tasting great with no overwhelming "fishy" taste. This is a keeper. Recipe was followed exactly. No variations.

Spiced Butternut Squash Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2007
I was very excited about this recipe. What a let down. First, a 1/2 Lb isn't very clear because it's the amount you get out of it when your done & I'm sure it varies depending on the cook & the squash. Second, this made 24 servings. Third, the batter was like soup. Fourth, even cooking 10 min. longer than the first 12, the muffins are super sticky & don't have a nice done fluffy finish, they are heavy & wet. Fifth, they have hardly any flavor to speak of! I was expecting a spicy Fall muffin. The only nice thing was my house smelled wonderful! Go figure!

Cherry-Stuffed Acorn Squash

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2007
Where to begin? First, I liked the fruit & sauce. Liked, not loved. I didn't care for the squash at all. I do like squash, just not this way. My husband hated the fruit & sauce & liked, not loved the squash. He gave me his fruit & I gave him my sguash. I will not make this again & my husband is thrilled.

Bread Pudding II

This is a very good recipe. I will make this again. The baking time was too short though. I had to double the time. It came out wonderful & tasty.

Caramel Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2007
I've made much better bread pudding from other recipes. This calls for way too much sugar. My husband said he didn't care for it. He said it reminded him of mushy undercooked french bread. It certainly doesn't taste like caramel either! I did follow this recipe exactly, no variations in case you are wondering. I would recommend trying a different recipe for bread pudding.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2007
This is a great recipie! These brownies are so easy to make! "One bowl brownies" They are moist & chewy. I looked long and hard for a good brownie recipie using cocoa powder rather than baking chocolate for when I'm out of baking chocolate & finally after many brownie disasters I tried this! I don't even make the icing because they don't need it! Sometimes I change it up a bit example 1/4c + 2Tbsp apple sauce + 2 Tbsp coconut oil, or 1/4c apple sauce 1/4c butter/oil. Or I just make it full fat. Whatever I'm in the mood for. No matter how I make them, they turn out delicous every time! A keeper thankee sai!

Chocolate Frosting I

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2007
This was OK. I find I still prefer the fantastic recipe on the back of the WoodStock Farms powdered sugar bag. That is FABULOUS icing. Everyone goes crazy over it! Back to this recipe,it will do if you don't have something better. The flavor is not bad but not super rich & chocolatey. The texture is a little thick - hard to spread. It tastes pretty good. It will do the job. I'm just spoiled by the other delicous recipe!

Simple Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2007
This has become my most used bread recipe. It makes 3 loaves which is a nice time saver. I simply freeze the other 2. The flavor is wonderful. Nothing beats the smell of fresh baked bread, or the taste of hot homemade bread out of the oven! Heaven! Just make sure you follow the directions or you may end up with bread your not too happy with!

Buttermilk Pie IV

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2007
I don't know what it is about this pie, but I loved it! I had extra buttermilk & needed to use it up. I found this recipie & what a keeper! It baked up beautifully & smelled wonderful. The texture is like custard. It was firm & nice to slice. I reduced the sugar by 1/2 because that seemed to be the general recomendation amongst reviewers & it worked perfectly! This is soooo easy to make!
