Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: May 14, 2012
These were my first try at a veggie burger and I can honestly say I liked them MORE than real burgers. The seasonings was just right. Mine held their shape and I made them into 4, rather than 5 burgers. Thanks for the recipe!

Great Grandma's Pork and Sauerkraut

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2008
This is a great basic recipe. I used pork chops rather than a loin and I added 1 tablespoon of brown sugar and half a chopped oninon. I sauted the onion with a little olive oil to soften them up before mixing all the ingredients together. Then,I seared both sides of the chops, deglazed the pan with some white wine (and also added 1/4 c. of water) and then put the rest of the ingredients on top of the chops in a covered pan and let simmer until cooked through which which was only 15-20 minutes. This was a very yummy dinner!

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2008
I love this recipe!! These Snickerdoodles turn out great. I took the advice of other reviews and increased the amount of sugar to 3 TBS and cinnamon to 3 tsp. I also, mixed that in a bag and dropped the dough balls in one by one for a much less messy way of coating them.

Braised Balsamic Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2008
Very very tasty recipe!! I reduced the Balsamic vinegar to almost 1/4 cup and used chicken broth to equal 1/2 cup. It was the perfect amount to make it delicious without overpowering. I served it with the juices ove rice. Yummy!

I did this in the slow cooker on low all day and added chopped carrots towards the end - my family LOVED it!

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2009
This is a GREAT soup! I strongly recommend using the Bill Echols Taco Seasoning recipe vs. a taco seasoning package because I've made it both way and it makes a huge difference!

Honey Glazed Ham

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2009
Great and simple recipe! I used brown sugar in place of the corn syrup and it still turned out fantastic. I cut the recipe down to only 1/4th of the original because I had a very small ham but it was the perfect amount.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2009
This is so yummy! I followed the directions as stated but I only added 1/2 of the salad dressing mix knowing I could always add more later, if needed. I also only used 2 chicken breasts and shredded them when when it was time to add the cream cheese and soup, rather than cube them. This dinner was so easy and even my picky 4-year-old ate it up! I used 1/3 less fat cream cheese and next time I will try it with fat-free cream cheese as well as the healthier soup to see how it turns out!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2009
This is a favorite of mine! I always halve the recipe because it is only my husband, daughter and I. I add 1 or 2 cans of mixed veggies (carrots, peas, etc) and some seasonings and it turns out great every time! I also mix up the refrigerated dough between biscuit dough and crescent roll dough.

Aunt Teen's Creamy Chocolate Fudge

This is a super easy and great fudge recipe. I used all semisweet chocolate chips and I thought it turned out fantastic! I will definitely use this as my go-to fudge recipe.

Garlic Cheddar Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2010
Great and easy recipe! My only suggestions would be to omit the salt (because of the cheese) and I also chopped the shredded cheddar cheese a little finer so it stuck better to the chicken. I followed the other suggestions of putting a little layer of breadcrumb mix underneath the chicken in the pan before baking. Very yummy and easy and my picky 4-year-old liked it too!

Jackie's Sausage Soup

Reviewed: May 10, 2010
This soup is SO good and SO easy. The only change I would make next time is to use diced tomatoes rather than whole. Also, if you plan on having any leftovers, I would suggest cooking the orzo separately and then adding it to the individual bowls. Absolutely delicious!

Italian Sausage, Peppers, and Onions

I had some sweet Italian sausage I needed to use and I'm so happy I found this recipe! It was so easy but oh so delicious! I wouldn't change a thing!

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2010
Absolutely delicious! I doubled the sauce but used 1/2 cup brown sugar + 1/4 cup white sugar. I used chicken thighs, turned the temp down to 375/400 and was sure to baste often. This reminded me of General Tso's chicken more than anything and I plan to add chili garlic paste next time!

Addictive Sweet Potato Burritos

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2010
Although this recipe seems a bit unusual I still decided to try it and I'm glad I did! I cut the recipe down to 1/4th since it's only me. I used one can of kidney beans and one small sweet potato. I mashed the beans while they were still in the can but they don't necessarily even have to be mashed. It was a great recipe, I only wish I had sour cream to add to them!

Amish Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2010
Much better than store-bought macaroni salad! I only used 1/4 - 1/3 cup of sugar, left out the celery seed and used an entire box of macaroni. Very good!

Thai Chicken Curry with Pineapple

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2010
This is fabulous!!! This is better (and cheaper) than the Indian restaurants here in England! I added an onion and added a little extra brown sugar. Next time I will definitely add more curry paste or maybe some hot peppers sliced very thin (like I've seen in the Indian or Thai restaurants). If you're unsure about making our own curry dish - make this one!!! It's very easy and tasty!!!

Chicken Katsu

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2010
This was my first time using panko crumbs and I loved it. Very simple and tasty, just remember to season the chicken with whatever you like - I used salt, pepper and some garlic powder.

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2010
The perfect chili! I usually just make chili from a packet and was bored of that so I tried this recipe - wish I'd found it sooner! I halved the recipe exactly and it turned out perfect. I added some leftover spaghetti sauce because I thought it needed some but that was my only change. I used Tex-Mex chili seasoning and "medium" salsa and it was the PERFECT amount of heat!
