Great Grandma's Pork and Sauerkraut

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2008
This is a great basic recipe. I used pork chops rather than a loin and I added 1 tablespoon of brown sugar and half a chopped oninon. I sauted the onion with a little olive oil to soften them up before mixing all the ingredients together. Then,I seared both sides of the chops, deglazed the pan with some white wine (and also added 1/4 c. of water) and then put the rest of the ingredients on top of the chops in a covered pan and let simmer until cooked through which which was only 15-20 minutes. This was a very yummy dinner!

Frogmore Stew

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2010
This was delicious! I halved the recipe but I used an entire can of Old Bay. And instead of shrimp I used 2 lbs of King crab legs.

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2010
These wings couldn't have turned out better! I doubled the recipe (to make 2 lbs of wings) but followed the recipe exactly the first time. They turned out great! The second time I added more hot sauce and a touch more cayenne pepper and they were perfect!

Broccoli Chicken Delight

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2007
This is something my Mother-in-law makes and now I'm making it for my husband. I use 2 cans of the healthier condensed soup but I still do use the mayo. I omit the lemon juice, curry and crackers. Instead I bake it covered, without the cheese for most of the time and near the end I add the cheese to the top and also add a layer of breadcrumbs mixed with melted butter to make a nice top and a little bit like a "crust". One tip though, be sure to pat dry/get rid of excess water from the cooked chicken and broccoli - this keeps it creamy without any water in the bottom after cooking!

Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2009
I used Sweet Baby Ray's barbeque sauce and followed the directions, although I did not marinate the ribs overnight. I only cooked the ribs for 2 hours and at the end, I added more bbq sauce to the tops of the ribs and broiled them for 10 minutes. They turned out PERFECT!

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2010
The perfect chili! I usually just make chili from a packet and was bored of that so I tried this recipe - wish I'd found it sooner! I halved the recipe exactly and it turned out perfect. I added some leftover spaghetti sauce because I thought it needed some but that was my only change. I used Tex-Mex chili seasoning and "medium" salsa and it was the PERFECT amount of heat!

Pasta Isabarte

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
This is so yummy and it smells wonderful! I used 3 eggs instead of 2 and omitted the olives. When assembling the dish, I made layers with cheese in between and it turned out perfect. The veggies stay a little crunchy and the eggs are a nice addition! I might add some ricotta cheese the next time I make this!

Banana Nut Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2007
This recipe sounded good so I gave it a try but I personally don't like the way it turned out. It has a texture between that of cake and brownies but I'd rather have one or the other. My husband who usually eats up all of my baked goods only had one piece and didn't touch it again. But I'm not saying this is a bad recipe or that it tastes bad and that's why I still gave it 4 stars. If you're looking for that kind of texture and like all the ingredients go for it!

Albino Pasta

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2007
I really liked this recipe. It was light and great as a side dish and something different than sauces with pasta. I used whole grain pasta, added some minced garlic and a small head of broccoli florets. And of course lots of cheese!

Stir-Fry Pork with Ginger

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2007
The recipe was good but I did make some changes. I agree with other posts that their is already enough salt so I didn't add the extra salt but did substitute regular soy sauce for the dark. I added water chestnuts, onions and bell peppers to make sure there were plenty of veggies! An alright recipe overall.

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: May 14, 2012
These were my first try at a veggie burger and I can honestly say I liked them MORE than real burgers. The seasonings was just right. Mine held their shape and I made them into 4, rather than 5 burgers. Thanks for the recipe!

Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2011
The BEST honey mustard chicken I've had! I followed the recipe other than subbing regular mustard for dijon. Still delicious! I doubled the marinade to use some for basting and the rest for dipping sauce. I used chicken tenderloins which grilled fast and were still perfect and juicy!

These are great and I wouldn't change anything. My only tip would be to make them the night before and just pop them in the oven in the morning!!

Basil Tomato Soup

A delicious tomato soup! I'll never go back to condensed tomato soup. I halved the recipe, used half and half, used dried basil instead of fresh and added some salt. It was perfect!

Honey Roasted Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2010
These were a hit! So much better than plain roasted potatoes! I used 2 tablespoons of melted butter and 2 tablespoons of honey, along with a squirt of regular mustard. I think I might add even more of the mixture next time but these were great like this!

Juicy Roasted Chicken

Perfect! And so easy! I followed the recipe exactly except my chicken was 5 lbs. It cooked for about 1 hour, 20 minutes and it came out just right and so moist.

Chicken Katsu

This was my first time using panko crumbs and I loved it. Very simple and tasty, just remember to season the chicken with whatever you like - I used salt, pepper and some garlic powder.

Easy Vodka Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2010
Great basic recipe! I halved the recipe (and it still made plenty) and I added a few things. First I added just a couple teaspoons of sugar to mellow out the tartness and I also added garlic, dried basil and salt. I gave it 4 stars only because I don't think it would have been as good without the extras but definitely try this recipe! Also, I didn't cook it for as long as it states because even on low, it reduced down too much for my liking and I added a little more cream (light cream) at the end to regain the creaminess.

Jackie's Sausage Soup

Reviewed: May 10, 2010
This soup is SO good and SO easy. The only change I would make next time is to use diced tomatoes rather than whole. Also, if you plan on having any leftovers, I would suggest cooking the orzo separately and then adding it to the individual bowls. Absolutely delicious!
