Garlic Top Sirloin Pot Roast

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2007
This recipe turned out quite tasty! My pot roasts are usually missing flavor and turn out a little bland but this one turned out wonderful. I still think it needed extra salt but overall, very good and worth it!

Slow-Cooked German Short Ribs

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2007
I really loved this recipe! I'm not a big meat eater but these ribs were so tender and the flavor was very tasty and sweet without being overpowering. I would recommend this to everyone!!

Stir-Fry Pork with Ginger

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2007
The recipe was good but I did make some changes. I agree with other posts that their is already enough salt so I didn't add the extra salt but did substitute regular soy sauce for the dark. I added water chestnuts, onions and bell peppers to make sure there were plenty of veggies! An alright recipe overall.

Albino Pasta

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2007
I really liked this recipe. It was light and great as a side dish and something different than sauces with pasta. I used whole grain pasta, added some minced garlic and a small head of broccoli florets. And of course lots of cheese!

Broccoli Chicken Delight

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2007
This is something my Mother-in-law makes and now I'm making it for my husband. I use 2 cans of the healthier condensed soup but I still do use the mayo. I omit the lemon juice, curry and crackers. Instead I bake it covered, without the cheese for most of the time and near the end I add the cheese to the top and also add a layer of breadcrumbs mixed with melted butter to make a nice top and a little bit like a "crust". One tip though, be sure to pat dry/get rid of excess water from the cooked chicken and broccoli - this keeps it creamy without any water in the bottom after cooking!

Beefy Baked Ravioli

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2007
This recipe is fantastic... please don't listen to the negative comments about opening cans.. you can put your own spin on this but it's still a great recipe. I used sweet italian sausage instead of ground beef and I ended up using 3 (8 oz.) sauce cans (that's what I had on hand) w/ the diced tomatoes. The recipes says to end with sauce on top but I ended with cheese (I used mozzarella, colby and m. jack), covered it and cooked it for 30 minutes. Then I took off the foil and cooked it for another 15, only to get the cheese nice and bubbly. I used 1.25 lb of sausage, a whole (25 oz) bag of ravioli and put the recipe into two 8x8 pans, cooking one for dinner and putting the other in the freezer for later! I would have LOVED to put some ricotta in this too but I was all out. =(

Di's Delicious Deluxe Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2007
These were fantastic deviled eggs. I followed the recipe but I used cayenne pepper instead of chili or hot sauce. I kept adding a little at a time into the mix until they had enough heat. I would definitely recommend, especially for gatherings!

Cheesecake Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2007
This was a great recipe!! If you love regular out-of-the-box brownies, you'll love these! The cream cheese is a nice touch. I followed the recipe but I may try a different flavor of cream cheese or add some vanilla or almond extract just to try - but it's great as is!

Chicken Enchiladas II

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2007
These are great chicken enchiladas!! I followed the recipe mostly but I did add extra condensed soup. I used almost both cans of cream of mushroom and a cream of chicken. I also used smaller tortillas. My only suggestion would be to make extra sauce and to play around with some extra fresh ingredients and maybe some more heat - but these are good as is!!

Cream Cheese Squares

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2007
This was one of the best desserts I've ever made - and it's so simple. I took one batch to a party and they were gone! I was also asked for the recipe - which is always a good sign! I wouldn't change anything but I did add a teaspoon of vanilla to the mix.

Bow Ties with Sausage, Tomatoes and Cream

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2007
I really love the way this turned out. It was really tasty and I'll definitely make it again. I used mild italian sausage and omitted the heat since I was cooking for kids. It still turned out wonderful. Instead of plum tomatoes, I used 2 cans of Italian herbs diced tomatoes and added cornstarch and parmesan cheese while the mixture was simmering. Perfect!

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2007
This is one of my all time favorite recipes. I usually cut chicken breasts in half and then pound them to get them nice and thin. I don't make any changes to the recipe and I leave the toothpicks in when I serve them so that the cheese and ham stay within the chicken. This is a really great recipe. Not too difficult and great for company!

Jamie's Minestrone

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2007
This is a really great soup. I don't exactly know the difference between minestrone and a vegetable soup (maybe the pasta?), but either way, it turned out really yummy. The only differences were that I halved the recipe, omitted the spinach (didn't have any) and used dried herbs rather than fresh. I also added some diced potatoes. It was a great meal with bread and a salad!

Kung Pao Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2007
This recipe turned out awesome!! I made a couple adjustments, such as 2x the marinade even though I only used 2 chicken breasts and I 4x the sauce - BUT, I only added 1.5 tablespoons chili sauce and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch/water. It still turned out with a great consistency, although I added maybe 1/4 water just for my liking. Since I only used 2 chicken breasts, I added fresh broccoli, 1/2 can of bean sprouts and a green bell pepper. This turned out really well and I would recommend it although you should at least double the sauce!

Banana Nut Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2007
This recipe sounded good so I gave it a try but I personally don't like the way it turned out. It has a texture between that of cake and brownies but I'd rather have one or the other. My husband who usually eats up all of my baked goods only had one piece and didn't touch it again. But I'm not saying this is a bad recipe or that it tastes bad and that's why I still gave it 4 stars. If you're looking for that kind of texture and like all the ingredients go for it!

Brown Sugar Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2007
This makes an awesome glaze! I used the recipe but prepared it differently. I added a little Worchestershire sauce and a dry onion soup packet. You could definitely do without those and it would still be super yummy! I use about 1/2" boneless pork tenderloins and do them on the stove. I sear both sides of the chops and then cook them with the sauce in a covered pan on med-low for just 15-20 minutes. It turned out fabulous!

Roast Beef and Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2007
This is a great and simple recipe!! I added onions and garlic and used one can of cream of mushroom and one can of the cream of mushroom/chicken mix because I opened that can by accident - it still turned out absolutely delicious! I served it over mashed potatoes - perfect!

Sweet and Sour Pork III

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2007
This is the best sweet and sour pork I've had! When you have it at restaurants, it's usually way overbreaded and not much pork but this is delicious! I followed the recipe but I didn't add the vegetables until I served it so they were still crunchy. I absolutely loved this - will definitely make again!

Great Grandma's Pork and Sauerkraut

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2008
This is a great basic recipe. I used pork chops rather than a loin and I added 1 tablespoon of brown sugar and half a chopped oninon. I sauted the onion with a little olive oil to soften them up before mixing all the ingredients together. Then,I seared both sides of the chops, deglazed the pan with some white wine (and also added 1/4 c. of water) and then put the rest of the ingredients on top of the chops in a covered pan and let simmer until cooked through which which was only 15-20 minutes. This was a very yummy dinner!
