Buttermilk Pound Cake II

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2010
Thought maybe you'd appreciate a review where someone didn't change, tweak, add to, subtract from, etc., etc. I baked this cake this morning and didn't change a thing. It doesn't need tweaking if directions are followed fully. It is delicious. Thank you for the recipe.

The Best Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2011
Good recipe. I've made a turkey chili similar to this for a few years. I find the proportions here are substantially similar. Some of the time, I have to omit the bay leaf (personal taste) and tone down the red pepper flakes and add a bit of garlic. But all in all, this recipe is fine. Thank you for sharing.

Cream of Mushroom Soup I

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2010
C'mon, people. If you change the recipe and add a little of this and that and take away a little of this and that, then it isn't the original recipe you're rating, is it? This author went to a lot of trouble to put this recipe up and it should be rated as is. The recipe is great and needs no tweaking. If you change it, then submit your CHANGED recipe as your own. Thank you for submitting this just-finne-as-is fantastic recipe.

Easy Mango Banana Smoothie

Reviewed: May 12, 2013
Thie smoothie recipe has been way overlooked. I find that it is just perfect. I halved it and it is so easy to remember. 4 ingredients: 1-1-1-1. Easy to make, easy to remember. How much better can you get?

Easy Asian Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2013
You had me at 'pasta' and 'sugar snap peas'. Didn't change a thing and it makes a stand-alone meal for me. Of course, it's easy to add chicken thigh meat or shrimp which I will probably do next time. Thank you.

Cold Oven Popovers

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2010
I've been making popovers for over 20 years and this is one of the best recipes. I really prefer the cold oven recipes over the other. One thing you just MUST remember about baking popovers: NEVER use the paper liners. The batter must be able to rise up the sides of the muffin cup. A paper liner hinders this. Thanks for this recipe.

Andrea's Pasta Fagioli

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2011
Everyone who wants to change this recipe and still call it Pasta e Fagioli should read this review: Reviewed on Jan. 7, 2010 by T-Bone Start by saying that I am 100% Italian. This is a recipe for pasta fagioli an Italian soup that means "pasta with beans". Pasta Fagioli does not have ground meat, carrots, celery etc. It has pasta, tomato and beans. By the way this recipe as it stands is very good. Also, I have made this recipe over and over and find that it needs no 'kickers' or additions or subtractions. This is a true Pasta e Fagioli. My only change would be to make more of it. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe.

Pork Chops for the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2012
Instead of messing with flour or cornstarch as thickening agent, I add a tbsp of dry tapioca to my crockpot gravies. It works well and you can't taste it in the final product. For 3 c of liquid, I usually add 2 tbsp. This recipe turned out fine for me. My only change/addition was the tapioca.

MMMmmm Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: May 22, 2011
Made this tonight in a 9X13 pan and followed recipe exactly. It is just right...moist and light crumb. Had to use AP flour w/baking powder + salt as I don't keep SR flour. This cake would be fine with only a powdered sugar dusting as topping but I went ahead and used the Vanilla-Chocolate Powdered Sugar Frosting from this site. I've eaten two large squares of cake already which I really have no business doing. But it is soooo good!!! This will be my go-to chocolate cake recipe from now on. Thank you for sharing, Denise. Photo doesn't do it justice.

Chewy Coconut Bars

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2011
I made these this week and must say that they are the absolute best for sure and deserve more stars than I can assign. I did use 3X the amt of coconut called for and went with the margarine as the fat. But they are just soooo soooo tasty. And, no, I couldn't eat just one. Thanks for the recipe, Myrtis. I'll be making these again and again. I gave some to a neighbor and she scarfed 'em down too. So next time, will be making 2 big batches. yum yum Bonnie N.

Excellent recipe and thank you for sharing. I make this all year 'round. Only thing I do differently is to make my own Italian Dressing for it. Kudos!!!

English Baked Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2010
I've been roasting potatoes this way for years. Didn't know they were considered 'English' though. I also make my own Italian Dressing and marinate the potatoes a few minutes and then roast so I guess mine could be considered 'English-Italian', huh? This recipe is fine as is though and is so adaptable to tweaking. Thanks for this one.

Zucchini Bread IV

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2010
This recipe deserves 10 stars. I've made this many times with many other recipes but really this is the very best. I first started using this recipe over a year ago and haven't used any other since. You CAN use as much as three cups of zucchini as long as the moisture is squeezed out before combining. These loaves never seem to last very long. I make 'em up and give as gifts to neighbors, friends and of course, the relatives. I dress them up a bit by coating the pans with sugar after I grease them instead of using the flour, especially if I'm going to be giving as a gift. Thank you so much, Kristen, for sharing with all of us.

Vanilla - Chocolate Powdered Sugar Frosting

Reviewed: May 22, 2011
Made this tonight with the cocoa for 9X13 MMMmmm Chocolate Cake from this site. Frosting is easy and quick to put together. Didn't even need all of the milk. I think I just used less than a tablespoon. Not too sweet. Just right. I will be making this frosting again. Thanks for sharing the recipe.

Microwave Corn on the Cob

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2012
I leave 'em in the husks and also wrap with the moist+ paper towels and nuke 2min. per ear. Then leave them in the towels to steam for another minute. The silks just almost fall off. Butter w/ a little garlic salt. I make a meal out of the corn and carmelized brussel sprouts and sliced fresh garden tomato slices. Mmmmmmmmm--can't beat it.

Kidney Bean and Chickpea Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2011
I have just recently fallen for chickpeas. This salad brings out the great taste of both beans. I use the dried beans to bring up more flavor. I also use purple onion sliced paper thin. This is sooo good. Thanks for posting the recipe.

Corn and Black Bean Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2010
I made this recipe this week and it is just great. I doubled the recipe and am still eating on it. We put pasta in it for the 2nd time and added a little more sugar. Next time, I'll probably add some kind of a white bean. Thank you for sharing. Since my first review, I've continued with this salad as a "go-to". I've added cannellini beans and serve over rice. The dressing can be so versatile.

My mother introduced me to this recipe over 40 years ago. I've made it in several variations over the subsequent years. I like to add a few coins of kielbasa occasionally and vary the pastas.

Unbelievably Good Fruit Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2011
This is so very well named!!! I love it! So very good. Mine was a little lumpy but I didn't use a mixer or blender and will do so next time but the texture didn't take away from the taste. Absolutely amazing for so few ingredients. Thanks for the recipe.
