Curried Apple and Leek Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2008
I used all the ingredients as specified (except I used Free-range Organic Chicken Broth), chopped in my VitaMix before cooking then pureed after cooking. This may seem like a lot of extra effort ~ It was worth it! All the ingredients blended very nicely together. Nothing over powering. Nice texture and flavor. We used our dollop of plain yogurt and served with fresh homemade rustic biscuits (daughter's recipe) and ice tea. Simple meal, very filling and will have again!

A perfect recipe template! I used mayo instead of the dressing ~ everything else was to taste ~ Came out great! Thanks!

Mom's Baked Beans II

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2007
PERFECT! I put the beans in the crock-pot (instead of baking) and dumped all the ingredients in. I used 'real bacon' bits from the salad isle and served with ham rather than add the ham in with the cooking. I used these at a Christmas Kids Party - There wasn't anything left! Just as good as those Southern Baked Beans - if you like the sweet taste, you'll love these!

Nut Butter Balls

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2007
Yes! These are absolutely NUT BUTTER BALLS! I followed the directions exactly. Made 9 dozen (that's 108 cookies, recipe actually made more so don't be afraid to make them a little bigger) for a Cookie Exchange Party for the Holidays. They are just like I remembered as a child. I used the vanilla extract and used less walnuts (finely ground) as a reviewer suggested. RICH with butter ~ DELICIOUS not too sweet ~ THE BEST combination of butter, powdered sugar and walnuts!

Slow Cooker Dump and Go Cheesy Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2007
I agree with some other reviews! This is a good basic recipe, but some things need to be added. I added fresh broccoli to my crock-pot and some curry (well, actually a lot of curry). Without the added spices it was a little bland for our taste. When done we spooned it over rice. For little thicker sauce I added some mayo/sour cream. This also makes it a little richer. If you added the richer ingredients, cut back on the cheese soup and substitute with cream of chicken, mushroom or broccoli (whichever you prefer). Don't forget some salt and pepper. Great starter recipe with endless choices.

Anniversary Chicken I

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2007
DElicious! This is REAlly great, mama! MMMmmm, very good! These were some of the comments I received when I served this chicken. I actually cut up the breast into large chunks (for faster cooking) and I forgot to add the cheese and bacon at the end (I added it right away so there was a little crusty effect, my fault). Still, everyone loved it! This was a very easy recipe. I took some other reviewers' advice and added some sauce to the bottom and mixed the dressing with sauce and poured. Great recipe!

Wine Baked Potato

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2007
Somethng easy and different. I sliced mine into thin wedges and layered with onion and butter. I added a little salt and pepper because some comments mentioned this recipe was too bland. I poured the cooking wine on top, closed up tin foil and baked. Tender and tasty!

Egg Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2007
Personally, I didn't care for this recipe at all. I thought it was a bit dry. I took it to a Church Pot-Luck and only two people had seconds. The reason I am giving it 4 stars is because the two that had seconds, loved it! Not a keeper for my family, sorry.

Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2007
I gave this a 5 star rating not because of my preference but because of my family's preference. I loved the use of roasted garlic! I usually sautee my garlic before making garlic mashed potatoes, but this will be a new tradition. However, I didn't care for the cheese, I thought it made the potatoes sticky-gooey rather than the traditional mashed texture. Won't use next time. Everyone else loved them though - none were left!

Lemon Pudding Cake I

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2007
Came out just like you said! My husband's choice for his birthday cake. I topped it with a homemade chocolate frosting from this site with vanilla ice cream on the side (his choice also). OOOoooh, so rich and good! I suppose some of the negative remarks were from people that didn't follow the directions as stated. The yolk needs to be thick, the whites need to be stiff. If that is done according to directions everything else works out perfect. Thank you!

Awesome Honey Pecan Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2007
I gave this recipe 5 stars because it was extremely easy and for someone who doesn't usually eat pork (maybe once every two years or so), I had seconds. Remember the KEY as stated by the recipe~DO NOT overcook the pork or the sauce. I was afraid I was going to eat this raw, but it wasn't. It was very juicy and my whole family liked it.

Breakfast Sausage Cake

I followed directions exactly, came out, I'm sure as it should have, but I just didn't care for it. I took it to a pot-luck and I think only one person tried it. Sorry!

Limehouse Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2007
I made this for Father's Day with rice and another recipe (garlic broccoli). The chicken turned out perfect. The only thing I did differently was use bottled lime instead of fresh and sprinkled dry mint instead of fresh (just didn't have on hand). The chicken was absolutely PERFECT. My daughter has her degree in Culinary Arts and she was praising the chicken. A+!
