Raisin Sauce for Ham

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2006
This turned out really well and was a pleasure to make. With the exception of cutting the vinegar in half, adding some pineapple and a pinch or two of powdered cloves, I prepared the recipe as directed. The resulting sauce was finger-licking good. Thanks.

Manhattan Clam Chowder II

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2004
This was really BLAND when prepared as directed but was an ok starting point. Added worchestershire sauce, a couple of tablespoons of salsa (did not have any hot sauce), a bullion cube, a bit of tomato sauce,Old Bay Seasoning, garlic, basil, celery, and green pepper before I got the desired results. Think that 2 cans of tomatoes would be too much of a good thing and that the chowder should be simmered for at least an hour.

Southern Fried Chicken Livers

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2010
This was an excellent recipe. Will use it as a breading reciep on other deep fried foods. Much as I love chicken livers...I lfound that preparing them for the cooking process is disgusting.

Crispy Rice Candy

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2005
This recipe is definitely a keeper. Made it with vanilla candy coating (thought it was white chocolate) The people at work finished it in 2 hours and gave it rave reviews.

Stir and Drop Sugar Cookies I

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2000
Wow!! They are easy, quick, and good. Mixed and baked 2 batches in a little over an hour. The first was made as directed and in the second 1 tsp. of maple extract was subsittued for 1 tsp. of vanilla and each cookie was topped with a pecan. Thanks.

Kristin's Fudgy Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2009
These were not my cup of tea. I followed the recipe exactly and found them to be expensive compared to other recipes...overly sweet and disliked their bitter after taste. To add insult to injury...They stuck to the pan and I was forced to run to the store to purchase a box mix to fulfill a bake sale promise.

Omitted the vinegar...but...otherwise prepared the recipe as directed. Used strawberry jello...They were so pretty and so good.

Carrot Souffle

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2003
This recipe is both excellent and versatile. Prepare and serve as directed and call it a pudding or souffle, or pour it in a crust and make a pie. I suggest that you count o more than 15 minutes to cook the carrots, cut down on the sugar, and add a bit of cinnimon.

Sweet Party Mix

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2007
This is so good that Miss Piggy would award it 5 oinks. Made this recipe as directed and added M&M's, peanuts and pretzels as other reviewers suggested. Next time the slivered almonds will go...They are too expensive, tend to get stuck on the paper and don't add that much flavor. More peanuts or raisins (plain or yogurt covered) would probably provide more bang for the buck. Mixed the stuff up in a small (clean) trash bag to avoid the messy job of having to stir and mix...Cooked it on cookie sheets...Noticed a bit of puddling...took care of it by adding more stuff. Watching it disappear and getting asked for the recipe was almost as rewarding as the eating.

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2010
Made exactly as written tonight for dinner and it was thoroughly enjoyed. Will double the recipe in the future...cut down on the sugar...add Worcestershire sauce. Serve 1/2 as sloppy joes. The rest will be frozen and converted into stuffed peppers later in the week by adding uncooked rice, water, and a partial can of tomatoes. Thanks for sharing.

Calabrese Style Spaghetti

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2008
This recipe is a blast from my past. When my Calabrese grandmother used to fix spaghetti like this, I thought that she was too busy to walk down her basement and grab one of the jars of spaghetti sauce that she had canned. Thanks to you...I know differently...and...am able to duplicate the taste. It was as good as I remembered.

Spinach Rice

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2008
Except for omitting the jalapeno peppers, adding 2 small cloves of garlic, and a bit of milk before baking (because I mixed it the day before and much of the liquid had been absorbed) I prepared this for a Thanksgiving get together. Some people thought it was a casserole...Others thought it was a dip. Everyone loved it. Received several requests for the recipe. ELI3LEG thank you!!!

Mashed Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2008
Over cooked my potatoes...This recipe saved the day. Left the butter out completely...Cut way back on the mustard... Used hot dog relish that had some mustard in it and added a dash of vinegar for extra zing..

I'm in chocolate heaven. Thank you. My only tweak was follow another reviewer's suggestion of substituting brown sugar for the white cane sugar.

Ham and Noodle Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2013
This was excellent. Tweaked the recipe by substituting sharp cheddar instead of Swiss cheese...added sauteed celery and onion and some frozen peas (for color)...prepared mustard and a pinch of nutmeg (for zing) and a bit more milk. Will definitely make again. Thanks.

Asian Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2010
Thanks for the recipe. I'll confess to altering it to suit our personal preferences. (No red pepper or ginger...Less cornstarch...More orange juice). Stir fried some vegetables and boiled some rice noodles and added them to the chicken and sauce mixture.

Caramelized Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2010
Excellent. Made this for dinner tonight...Followed the recipe exactly except for using boneless/skinless chicken breasts, adding 2 TBS corn-starch to sauce and cooking the sauce on stove-top until it thickened. Personally, we found that the soy sauce was a little overpowering... but...We ended up going back for seconds. Will definitely make this again and again cutting back on the soy sauce and tweaking the recipe to suit our personal tastes. Thanks!!!
