Creole Chitterlings (Chitlins)

Hi Nyghtsong. New Year's Day my mother always prepared Chittlins as one of the meat dishes. She went home to be with the Lord 4 years ago. I want to feel close to her and will try this recipe and let you know. Thanks for sharing as you never know who you are blessing!

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Can't wait to try this recipe. I will add pecans for a nice crunch. Thanks Bittersweet1 for sharing your cookie recipe with the world. OMG! I made these tonight Dec. 29, 2010. I ate 4 coming out of the oven. These cookies are fantastic. Store bought cookies are now history.

Black-eyed Peas and Ham Hocks

Here are my suggestions: soak beans overnight in 2 tsp of baking soda (to remove gas from beans); cook ham hocks on high for 45 minutes using Chicken stock then add all ingredients; add onions and a pepper to spice it up. This is the way my mother cooked her black-eyed peas. One final note: prepare this with "Grandma's Buttermilk Cornbread" recipe and your guests will rant and rave. Thanks for sharing this comfort food recipe with us!

Thousand Island Dressing II

. I was preparing a salad and realized I had none in the fridge. I found this recipe 5-ingredient recipe a few minutes and it was delicious. Thanks Sue for sharing. No more store bought dressing for us. I can't wait for my husband to get home from work to try it out.

Barbie's Tuna Salad

Prepared this dish a few minutes ago ... OMG ... this is so good. This will now be a staple in my household. My son ate his with crackers. Never thought all these ingredients would marry so well together. Thank you for giving me a new "spin" on tuna salad. No more dicing onions, celery and eggs for me.

Authentic Louisiana Red Beans and Rice

Before going to work this morning (6-03-10) I placed all the ingredients in my Crock Pot and cooked on low for 6-7 hours. For additional flavor and to give this recipe "my own signature" I added three smoked turkey necks, Zummo sausages and BADA-BLING - this is a WINNER!!!!!

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

My 14 year old hates box pancakes and I was looking for a good old-fashioned pancake recipe for both he and my fiance'. This morning I prepared this recipe for breakfast and my son cleaned his plate - devouring 4 medium-sized pancakes w/ sausage on-a-stick! Thanks for the recipe - now a staple in my home.

B and L's Strawberry Smoothie

Great! Modified slightly (didn't have skim milk). Here's what I did: 1/2 cup of 2% Milk; 1 tblspn of Splenda; 1 tsp Vanilla Extract; 10 frzn strwberries and 1/2 cup of Plain Yogurt. (Didn't need ice). Came out very creamy. Thanks for the recipe!

Detroit Hot Honey Wings

These wings are DANGEROUS - haha! I have just finished preparing this dish and they are "off-the-chain"! I promise you my wings look exactly like the photo above. They not only look great but they taste even better. The only thing I added was garlic and used Louisiana Hot Sauce and a side of macaroni & cheese. This will be come a staple in my home. Dry Rub for Ribs

Awesome rub! I used this reipe on May 24, 2009 (Memorial Day). Used the rub on baby back ribs (remove the membrane on the back of the ribs then use rub), chicken and sausage. Everyone raved about the meat and how good it tasted. Denise, I used your rub along with Sweet Ray's Bar-b-que Sauce and I couldn't stop eating! Thank you for sharing!

Baby Back Ribs

Awesome recipe! I removed the membrane from the back of the ribs, then rubbed the ribs front & back with the "Dry Rub for Ribs" recipe from this site and used "Sweet Ray's Bar-b-que Sauce". These baby back ribs were falling off-the-bone. My fiance' even asked for a to go plate. This recipe is definitely a keeper! Thanks Kheffn!

Banana Pudding IV

Awesome recipe! I followed the instructions and prepared this dessert in a Trifle glass dish on May 24, 2009 (Memorial Day) and it was not only beautiful but great tasting. It was simple, easy and delicious. Definitely a keeper! I've already memorized the ingredients. Thanks Patty!

Chicken and Dumplings III

This is a great recipe! I added a few ingredients sauteed 1 garlic clove, 2 fresh carrots, used 2 cans of crm of chkn soup and 1 capful of yellow food coloring for beauty. Instead of using biscuits I purchased a bag of Skinner Dumplings (on the pasta isle) and added at the end. I prepared a pan of Golden Sweet Cornbread and Barbara's Golden Pound Cake from this site to go with it! Wow!!!!! Thanks for sharing!

Pico De Gallo

I prepared this last night to compliment some fajitas I'll cook tonight. Like others, I added minced garlic, lime juice and salt. I chopped everything up separately and then threw all of it into my chopper and it was excellent! This recipe is a keeper and the ingredients are right in your fridge.

Luscious Slush Punch

Excellent recipe! I made this punch two nights ago for Thanksgiving (11-27-2008) for approx. 15 people. I used only one cup of sugar and my guests were looking for more. This recipe will be come a staple in my home. I highly recommend this punch. I've added this to my recipe box. Thanks for sharing!

Broccoli, Rice, Cheese, and Chicken Casserole

Here's what I did: I chopped the broccoli/onion up very fine, sauteed the onion in a skillet until translucent and then added the finely chopped broccoli. After 5 mins I added the butter. I used GROUND MEAT seasoned soulfully. I used 2 bags of Success Boil-in-a-Bag Rice. After everything was ready I used a 9x13 dish and poured meat/broccoli/onion/mushroom & chicken soup along with two (2) jars of Cheese Whiz together, stirred it placed in the oven for 10-15 minutes. It is GREAT!!!!!! By the way, I never used milk at all.

Billy's Favorite Smoky Collard Greens

Like others, I grew up on collard greens with turkey/ham hocks. Now that I'm eating healthier this was a GREAT alternative for me. I cooked these collards last night (March 9th) and enjoyed it immensely. Even though I had no molasses on hand they turned out wonderful. My meal plan last night was: Grilled Tilapia, Buttered Corn and Billy's Favorite Smoky Collard Greens. I loved the greens and I only cooked mine for 20 minutes to perserve some of the vitamins. I loved the liquid smoke addition. Thanks for this recipe!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Around 12midnight I prepared this recipe using 1 can of Campbell's Beef Broth instead of water, 2 cans of Campbell's Cream of Mushroom Soup and a pkg of Lipton Dry Onion Soup Mix. I seasoned the pot roast with salt, pepper and garlic then seared in a hot skillet using olive oil. Then placed in crockpot and covered in soup mixture with baby carrots, vidalia onions, garlic and quarted red potatoes. I woke up this morning and the pot roast had cooked on low heat for 8 hours and turned out tender and flavorful. This will become a signature meal for my family. Thank you!
