German Chocolate Cake III

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2010
This was so moist and delicious. I doubled the frosting and I had a little extra but I would rather have too much than not enough. The frosting was so much better than any canned version...not too sweet and perfect! I toasted the pecans and coconut. Don't forget about your coconut and broil it too long because it will catch on fire...haha.

Eclair Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2010
wow. This is an amazing dessert. I was hesitant to make it just because it looked so easy. I like my desserts to impress, but trust me, this will impress! Stick the frosting in the microwave for 30 seconds so you can pour it on. I like to let mine sit in the fridge overnight and by morning its perfect.

Chocolate Caramel Brownies

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2010
These are amazing. Everyone tells me these are the best brownies they have ever eaten when they try them. Don't worry if you can't completely cover with the second half of the batter. I like the caramel to poke through on mine.

Whipped Cream Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2010
Made this but with powered sugar, and WOW, this is great frosting! My husband didn't want a heavy cream cheese frosting so I found this and it was perfect. I don't think I will ever make normal cream cheese frosting again. This is so light, I could practically eat it out of the bowl. I made this with a strawberry cake.

Strawberry Cake from Scratch

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2010
Okay, I made a bunch changes after reading the other reviews. I cut the sugar down to 1 1/2 cups, I only used about 3/4 of the package of gelatin, I used 2 teaspoons of vanilla, made three layers instead of two, I whipped the egg whites in at the end, and I used unsweetened fresh strawberry for the puree. I used the whipped cream cheese frosting from this site and added some strawberry puree to the frosting for the middle layers. With all these changes the cake was fabulous. Yeah, its still a more dense than fluffy cake but that's not always a bad thing. Mine was definitely not too sweet especially with the frosting I choose. I rated this a 4 just because I made all these changes but with the changes it is a 5!

Simple White Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2008
These weren't what I was hoping for. They didn't have a bad taste but my cupcakes turned out more like muffins. They were very dense.

These are easy to make and turn out perfect! I didn't have cream of tarter so I used White Vinegar as another user suggested.

Fruited Curry Chicken Salad

Reviewed: May 18, 2007
This was alright, but I actually didn't like the curry flavor in the chicken salad...I thought it stood out and was kind of strong...

Hawaiian Chicken Salad

Reviewed: May 18, 2007
I've tried out so many different chicken salad recipes, trying to find one I wanted to make for a graduation party. I settled on one, but then when I found this I thought I might as well give it a try since we are having a luau theme. It was so great! Sweeter than the average chicken salad, but I loved it. I also chopped up some Macadamia Nuts and put them in. I highly recommend doing that, they tasted great in the salad.

Cake Balls

Reviewed: May 3, 2007
These were pretty good, but quite messy and a lot of work. My husband liked them though. They reminded him of those little debbie snack cakes.

Bacon Wrapped Smokies

Reviewed: May 2, 2007
For some reason when I cooked mine for the time stated they completely burned on the bottoms. I used thin turkey bacon so I'm guessing thats why. I made another batch though and only cooked for 25 minutes and they turned out great! I rolled the smokies in brown sugar, then rolled the bacon in brown sugar and then put more brown sugar on top after they were wrapped. I put them in a crockpot with a maple syrup and brown sugar mixture as another poster suggested and they stayed moist and delious!

Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball

Reviewed: May 2, 2007
This is so addictive! I let the cream cheese mixture sit in the fridge over night and it was super easy to form into a ball the next day. I had this and a real cheesecake in my fridge but this cheese ball is what I kept wanting more of.

Caramel Shortbread Squares

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2007
I just made these and they turned out great. I was thinking about making these for a graduation party next month, but wanted to try a test run since other people seemed to have problems with them. I thought they were actually very easy after reading some of the suggestions posted. I poked holes with a fork into the shortbread so that the caramel layer would stick and I cooled each layer before adding the next. Besides that I followed the recipe exactly. I know some people didn't like the shortbread layer but it really goes great with the other layers and cuts down on the sweetness. I can't wait to make this for my party!
