Three bowls
Oct. 30, 2013 2:05 pm

With a crazy household, dinner seems to be the last thing on my mind most days.  You would think by now having a two year old and a seven year old I would have a plan in action each day.  Not the case, the past few months have left more pizza on our doorstep than I care to admit.  I admit I was worried about this months activities, ok not the Ore-Ida products but the Johnsonville ones, they screamed work to me and more planning than I had time for.

We eat plenty of Ore-Ida products in this house.  They complete the famous chicken nuggets, fill a need for a hot snack after school, or for my two year old they are a vehicle for his ketchup consumption.  Lately things have been fairly busy here and being able to go out to dinner just hasn’t fit in the game plan, so I had the idea to recreate one of my favorite burgers from the local pub.  Top a pretzel bun with a burger, hash browns, caramelized onions, and Camembert cheese, and you get heaven on a bun or an Irish potato burger.

Now the dreaded Johnsonville, we aren’t big sausage eaters besides some links along side breakfast.  I knew I needed to pick recipes that my picky little’s wouldn’t turn their noses up at.  I made pizza one night to ease us into it and they ate all of it.  A few nights later I made One Pan Italian, they raved and asked for it again.  I loved this one for the easy clean up, and it tasted wonderful.  My last recipe I wasn’t so sure of but forged ahead.  I whipped up the Pizza Pasta and placed it in front of them, not one, not two, but three bowls later my 7 year old finally announced he was full.  We have three winning recipes that now are in my busy night box.  Packs of ground sausage will always be on hand for these busy nights.

We enjoyed both sponsors recipes this month and these will continue to grace our table during the week.

About Me
Stay at home mom of two wonderful little boys! We spend a lot of time outdoors when the weather gets nice. Cooking is a way for me to relax if everyone stays out of my way. I love to read cookbooks and the internet, always searching for that perfect recipe to make. I love to challenge myself and my family by trying new things. We used to go out to eat a lot but now we are spending less money and more time at home creating our favorite dishes.
My favorite things to cook
Dessert!!!!I love every step of it but especially the final product and making it fancy. I also really enjoy finding unique and interesting recipes and trying it out. My family doesn't always enjoy my adventurous cooking but they have learned to accept and eat it!
My favorite family cooking traditions
This would have to be our bacon log. This started years ago with an annual bacon party with friends. We stating making this for most holiday events. It's a favorite since you can never go wrong with bacon at our house!
My cooking triumphs
It's always big deal when I can get a holiday meal on the table at the same time! Also when I can get everyone to eat what's on the table without complaint and even better is when they say they like it.
My cooking tragedies
I actually blew up a stove!!!! Not my fault it was new and they screwed the handle on to tightly when they installed it. Once the oven warmed up the glass expanded and shattered!!!
