I read a bunch of the less flattering reviews regarding blandness. So I used 14 oz can diced tomato and 14 oz of marinara sauce. I added a bit of dry basil (~ 1 tsp) and oregano (~3/4 tsp) and a bit more red wine (maybe 3/4 cup instead of half cup). I though it came out pretty good (deep red wine flavor) but I added too much oregano, the spice seasoning mixture wasn't quite correct and it was a little too saucey.
Will make again but will tinker with it. Definitely a good recipe (the original) to start from though.
