We visited a charming Greek community in Tarpon Springs, Florida and enjoyed their authentic Baklava. This recipe is extremely close to theirs. If my memory does not fail me.... it is almost identical. My 16 year old daughter and I made this for our German family and everyone had a fit over it. I used 1/2 pistachios and 1/2 walnuts because we favor pistachios but I believe the lovely Greek use walnuts. I made extra sauce ( 1 cup of honey) and cooled it before I poured it on the Baklava. Make sure to cut the squares in diagonal before baking. I also kept this dessert uncovered for 2 days. It never became soggy or mushy. The layers remained crisp just like they should be. I made it on Friday and it was gone by Sunday night. Thank you for an amazing recipe=D Will definitely make again!!

Old Fashioned Peach Cobbler
Good recipe but lacks a little flavor. I think it could use vanilla extract or I personally like almond extract with peaches. Would make again and try adding additional flavor.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
These are really great cookies and I made them as written with no changes. The entire family liked them. I baked a few cookies a little longer to make them crispier. Half of my family likes their cookies crisp while the other half likes them chewy and soft. So, you can get the best of both worlds with this recipe. We did taste a hint of spices which were not overwhelming at all. I think the spices were just right. However, next time I make these I will delete the shortening and add applesauce and delete the eggs and double the egg whites to lessen the fat content.
