About this Cook
I am a 52 year old female. My Parents both worked while I was growing up. My sister and I were in charge of having dinner on the table. I have 2 daughters who can barely boil water. My patience. My husbsnd and I grow a garden every year so we can eat as fresh as possible. It seems to be leaning more towards a salsa garden these days. We also grow most of our own herbs.
My favorite things to cook
Italian food with a zing to it. I'll try just about anything new that sounds good, and a bit spicy
My favorite family cooking traditions
I complain about it a lot, but I love the Thanksgiving thing..especially when it is all done, and everyone is sitting down to eat.
My cooking triumphs
Spaghetti sauce. I make a HUGE pot and freeze in ziplock bags in varying amounts. I then use them as needed for lasagna, manacotti whatever, making changes as needed. I also make a mean salsa! Not to bad with the gravy either.
My cooking tragedies
Way to many to mention!!!! There have been many times when I was embarassed to say that I made the dish.

Blue Cheese Burgers
I have been making something like this for a while now. I use lots of bleu cheese crumples and add chopped, drained green chilies from the can. I also top with pepper jack cheese ( for the spice lovers in the family). Just hamburger, green chilis, blue cheese, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and the pepper jack! Delicious and creamy!!

Rosemary Shortbread Cookies
You can also make these using lavender. Oddly enough, they taste somewhat like rosemary. YUM
