Mom's Buttermilk Biscuits

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2011
Using the suggestion of the "dixie darlin'" these biscuits turned out very tender, flaky and rose to perfection. To clarify the suggestion use 2 1/2 tsp baking powder (not just 1/2), 1/2 tsp baking soda and a half stick of melted butter. I didn't over-handle the dough then I rolled and cut thicker biscuits. They went very well with the breakfast of sausage, egg and cheese. Thanks for sharing!

Indian Curried Barley Pilaf

Wow, even the kid liked this! A great alternative for rice. I usually make my curries with cinnamon, that was my only substitution. To make it a little more heart healthy I will replace the butter with olive oil when I make it again. Thanks for sharing!

Hmm, not too impressed with this recipe but it's a good start; I added my own touch, a little bit of oyster sauce, to make it better. Thanks for sharing!

Wonderful Yogurt Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2010
I followed the suggestions of others and used two eggs. I also used three six-ounce yogurt cups, which brought out more fruit flavor (two dark cherry and one blueberry pomegranate). I made an orange/lime glaze to top it off. It turned out better than expected. Thanks for sharing!

Awesome! We really enjoyed these fried alone or stuffed with cream cheese. Our local Chinese restaurant has lost a couple of customers. Thanks for the recipe!

Quick and Easy Cheese Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2009
Quick and Easy as promised. My cheese loving little guy thought it was too sweet and I agree so for the next loaf I'll use less or leave out the sugar completely. I added Parmesan cheese (1/4 cup), dried mustard(1 tsp) and dried garlic with parsley (1/2 tsp-Morton brand) to the dough to up the flavor a bit. Great with chili!

One Bowl Chocolate Cake III

Reviewed: May 4, 2008
I've used this recipe frequently. Once when a planned dessert failed I was able to whip this cake together at the last minute. I have used left over coffee in place of water with great results. When combined with cream cheese frosting the cake had an "Oreo" cookie flavor. Thanks for the recipe.

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2007
A good frosting for the size carrot cake I baked (Best Ever Carrot Cake by Nan). But I had to add at least a cup or two more sugar (okay more like 3!) to get it to the consistency I needed (a carrot cake isn't finished without decorating it with frosting carrots!) I also added a little sour cream to give the frosting more of a tangy flavor. I would suggest playing around with this recipe to get it just right for whatever cake one chooses. Thanks for the submitting this recipe!

Best Carrot Cake Ever

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2007
This recipe turned out just as expected. It was very moist, full of flavor and better than the version I usually prefer from a local chain family restaurant. I followed the recipe and a few suggestions from the reviews (re-hydrating the raisins in warm water before adding to carrot mixture). Also, I made sure the pineapple was drained completely. Hint: drain pineapple thoroughly while the carrot mixture sits for an hour. It will be completely dry when it is time to add it to the rest of the ingredients. The only trouble I encountered was finding a good cream cheese frosting, I used the one submitted by Jani but altered it (it needed more sugar and then I added sour cream) to suit my needs. The family loved this cake! Thanks for sharing the recipe.

We thought the presentation was beautiful but we were not impressed with the flavor. We had the same problem with it being undercooked in the middle. Will try baking the layers as "mariaemmanuella" did and maybe using almonds instead of pecans. Thanks for the submission!

Grandma's Eggless, Butterless, Milkless Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2004
This recipe makes the most delicious chocolate cake I've ever tasted! It is indeed moist and full of chocolate flavor. My one-year-old gobbled it up!I heeded the advice of others to cook it a little longer than the suggested 25 minutes, about 5 minutes more for my oven; the results were outstanding. I also sifted the dry ingredients to help make a smoother batter. This is certainly a keeper. Thanks for the recipe

Unbelievable Rolls

These rolls are delicious! Doubling the size of each roll they make awesome(huge!)burger buns. For more fiber in our diet we substitute about half the bread flour with wheat flour and add about a quarter cup of wheat bran. Our family can't get enough of them! Thanks for the recipe.

Blonde Brownies II

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2004
Great recipe! My favorite part is it only requires two eggs instead of four. I followed the suggestion and used only 1/4 tsp of salt. I found that their texture is best when eaten warm from the oven with or without vanilla ice cream, otherwise once cooled they are very hard on the edges. They are delicious and simple. I will make them again with some minor adjustments until they suit my taste. Thanks for the submission.
