Ham Bone Soup
I made this with a bone from a ham that my husband smoked. I made a few substitutions based on what I had - minced carrots for the peppers, pinto beans for kidney beans. Also added - 2 bay leaves, minced garlic, a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes, & extra pieces of leftover ham. I was not immediately impressed when it was time to eat (it seemed too watery), but my husband dove in & he enjoyed it. I left the lid off the crock pot & let it cook it down a little, & found that I liked the texture much better. It's more like stew now. For us, adding the extra ham was essential. We'll freeze some now & I'm sure we'll have it again (we've always got a ham bone). Thanks for the recipe!

Round Steak and Gravy II
I followed another reviewer's suggestion, searing the round steak pieces in a cast iron skillet & then cooking them in the crock pot for about 6-7 hours on high. I used about half a soup can of white wine to deglaze the skillet & then added that to the crock pot along with the two soups. Since I added the wine, I decreased the water to about half a soup can. The meat turned out very tender & the gravy was thick enough without adding flour (but I admit I'm not a fan of thick gravy). We had it over rice. I will probably think about ways to add a little more flavor, but as is, it is a good solid meal & perfectly edible.

Peach Cobbler II
Super tasty. I made a half recipe & cooked it in a glass loaf pan. I followed other reviewer's suggestions & used less sugar with the peaches - only 1/4 cup for the half recipe. I used some sliced peaches I froze a couple of weeks ago... I'm not sure how many there were. Probably 2 or 3. Also used half the water it calls for in the last step. Will make again & again!
