Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2012
4 stars for easiness.3 for taste. My boys loved it, but I didn't like the sauce so much. The recipe reminded me of meatloaf instead of Salisbury Steaks. I will probably just make meatloaf instead of this. I followed the recipe exactly.

Pizza Casserole

I doubled the ingredients except for peppers and onions, used Italian mild sausage for the meat, and used 2 cups of shredded Italian cheese blend. My family loved it and so did I. I think this is a keeper!

Pork Steaks

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2012
I made these tonight and my 13 year old son kept commenting how good they smelled. He mentioned frequently how yummy they were DURING the meal. I followed the recipe except I used regular pork chops instead of steaks. They were delicious. I wouldn't change a thing!

Super-Delicious Zuppa Toscana

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2012
Very good. I used spicy bulk pork sausage and omitted the bacon and red pepper flakes, forgot the onion, and used kale instead of spinach. Recipe could use a little salt.

Spicy Shrimp and Grits

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2012
I fixed this dish for my sons and me. I made it according to the recipe except I used a tsp of garlic powder instead of the minced garlic and omitted the salt. I also substituted 1 jalepeno pepper for additional heat for half of the bell pepper. Very yummy! Next time I will add some real bacon bits as a garnish.

Sherry Wine Sauce Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2007
Very good! Very simple! The sauce made a tasty gravy for potatoes. Will probably halve the amount of sauce next time, and will probably add mushrooms. Outstanding!

Slow Cooker Apple-Scented Venison Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2007
I've been looking for recipes for venison. This was the best so far, but still not wonderful. The loin I used was still tough after cooking in a crockpot on low for 8 hours. The broth it made was very good.

Quiche Lorraine I

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2007
I made this with cheese & garlic biscuits for supper and my husband and sons really liked it I will definitely make again. The only thing I changed was to halve the amount of cream, and I'm glad I did. Otherwise it would have been way too runny.

Cabbage Rolls II

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2007
Used this recipe as a guideline, as I'm a lazy cook. As other reviewers had suggested, I put a head of cabbage in the freezer and thawed it on the counter overnight. The leaves were wilted and easy to handle. I doubled the original recipe I substituted 1 lb. medium pork sausage for half of the meat. For the sauce, i used 1 can of condensed tomato soup, 1/2 soup can of water, and 2 tbsp worchestershire sauce. This made an adequate amount of sauce. I also added a tsp of minced garlic and a tsp of italian seasoning to meat mixture. I cooked this in the crockpot on low for 8 hours. This was delicious, and I can't wait for leftovers tomorrow. One "funny" thing however, the cabbage leaves did not cut easily with a fork.
