Sherry's German Turkey

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2014
I needed something new to do with the old bird I had in freezer since April and I did not want to do a tradfitional STUFFED bird, seems I am the only fan around!! I LOVE bacon on anything and have had and made baked chicken similiar to this method so I gave it a whirl.... IT WAS AWESOME, melt off the bone... I choose a covered roaster over the bag method but sealed lid down with a strip of foil for the first two hours then basted bird every 30 minutes there after until it reached temp... I would suggest using a thick cut bacon or over-laying if you are using a thinner cut , I used a 3lb box of ends and peices and layered bird with 2lbs or better of it after all its the fat and water content you are wanting from bacon. I also skimmed some of the fat off cooking juices since I over baconed if that's possible, then I made my gravy.

Tender Pork Spare Ribs

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2014
I have been lacking a good recipe for ribs forever... I followed this straight down the line and they turned out awesome..... did 4 BIG slabs for 4th o July yesterday....I had some apple butter on hand and added it to the liquid from 2 of my packets and then covered slabs with it as I was finishing it on grill ( I grilled my racks for about 20 minutes instead of finishing in broiler)...OMG it was good I will be adding AB to my twist to this method other than that no changes...!! One small detail that is missing from directions is removing the silver skin from rib bone side of rack.

Chocolate Fudge Pound Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2010
This is such a great recipe. I did only one tweek, I used cooking spray and then dusted pan with cocoa(unsweetend) instead of flour, makes for a much cleaner looking cake out of the pan and adds a another layer of chocolate flavor as well.

Vanilla Wafer Cake II

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2010
I followed recipe down the line...made sure to blend well after each egg, crushed wafers to a coarse texture not powdery, and used a QUALITY bundt pan with p-bury spray w/flour as pan prep....I allowed cake to cool only 3-5 minutes and pushed edges down with thumb around pan and turned it was perfect this is the pic as it shows cake now.

Sweet Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2007
Fall here in the south offers an abundant crop of sweet potatos and I am always looking for a new twist to preparing them. This recipe is a breeze to make and is sooo good there are usually little leftovers to worry with. I have tweeked it in diffent ways but the basic dish is good as any tweeks I have tried. I use this site two to three times a week and am always happy to find something that I can add to my recipe box and this one made it.

Bacon and Cheddar Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2007
This is a dish for the mushroom lover, even me who is mere fan liked this one. I had a couple peices bacon leftover from breakfast and did nit think it was enough so I added some chopped sliced peperoni to the mix, it was great.

Golden Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2007
I love this recipe. It is a great place to start with p/chops. I have tweeked it to fit my schedule and opted to use canned srooms instead of fresh and put it in a slow cooker/roaster on low with two large whole potatoes on top, set it on low and dinner was ready when I got home from work, just add salad and french bread. I have also done it in the oven and it always turnd out great. Served with garlic mashed potatoes and green peas....yummy!

Sauteed Garlic Asparagus

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2007
Only changed "butter only" for a mix of butter and olive oil. Fresh salt, sea or grey finished it off.

Spinach Cheese Manicotti

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2007
This turned out great for me, I doubled the recipe, put it together the nite before. I tweaked the recipe w/ homemade sauce and used low fat cheese. I can see where you could allow this to set overnite, freeze, and thaw to cook later, since it is all about the noodles soaking up extra water and replacing pre-cooking them. I will pass this one along and be sure to save it to my recipe box.

I left off the topping part and still got rave reviews, well worth all the trouble. I made mini (6 inch/cakes) and gave as gifts, have had no less than 9 people ask for recipe. Thanks Nancy...
