My favorite family cooking traditions
Besides Christmas or New Years Gumbo I would say hosting our annual cookie exchange party. This has become a family tradition I would like to see continue to grow.
My cooking tragedies
I used to put a heaping tablespoon of salt in everything until I learned it was safer to sprinkle and taste instead of pouring.

Amazing Lemon Scones
I've had this recipe saved for quite some time. With the reviews speaking so highly of it I just had to try it out before the New Year to share with my family. So glad I did!!! Two thumbs up all around! When it comes to glaze I'm a dipper or spreader. *shrugs* Either way it's delicious and they still look great. I am sure I'll be making these again very very soon. (maybe tomorrow)

Buttermilk Pound Cake II
This is a tried and true recipe. I dabble with additional ingredients; including using sour cream or yogurt instead of buttermilk. I've also swapped vanilla extract for my homemade mint extract and added food coloring for a creme de menth pound cake. What can I say, you can't go wrong with the amounts of dry versus wet and playing around with the flavorings. I should have posted a revue long before this because it is a keeper and a staple in my recipe box.

Orzo with Parmesan and Basil
This will be an easy go to for my family's meals. Dress it up with veggies and/or meat, dress it down like suggested... Either way it will be a keeper!
