About this Cook
I am happily married (17 years) and have one teenage son, who I'm happy to say, is a pretty great kid, and one HUGE german shepherd who eats like a horse, but is gentle as a lamb. I love to cook, hate clean-up, love to craft just about anything, and love to garden (hate to pull weeds!), love my family and friends, and am a nut for animals!
My favorite things to cook
Anything with pasta...I LOVE pasta!! Soups of all kinds, and real "comfort" foods, such as meatloaf or spaghetti sauce (none of that "jar-stuff" for me) Also love to cook turkey dinner with all the trimmings..just hate the clean up!!lol
My favorite family cooking traditions
Being Scandanavian, I always enjoy our family gatherings when we put on a Smorgasbord with all the wonderful dishes my family has presented for 5 generations. It keeps the family members who are no longer here close to us. Also, love when all the "girls" in our family get together before Xmas to bake all the old family cookie recipes. Great fun and great memories!
My cooking triumphs
The first time I made Pepparkakor (Scandanavian spice cookie) and my Mother told me they were better than hers...was she just being nice?? Made me feel great anyway!!
My cooking tragedies
Lemon Meringue Pie, or should I say "soup"...terrible disappointment!! And the Prime Rib I overcooked - that really hurt! (have gotten much better at it though)The first time I made Swedish meatballs..thought I followed Gr. Grandma's recipe to the letter, but the sauce came out badly and I was heartbroken.
