Creamsicle® Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2014
I used the low fat cream cheese, I left out the food coloring, bad for you (that is why I only gave this 4 stars), and added a tablespoon of grated orange zest.

Roasted Cauliflower Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2014
I never review a recipe without making it the original way at least once. So the original recipe only got 4 stars. But then I added a few sliced of bacon (sliced into 1/2 in pieces then fried with onions)2 carrots and chicken stock in place of the water. This improved the flavor immensely.

Souvlaki

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2014
This was tasty but Souvlaki it is not! Souvlaki is made with lamb and it would NEVER have soy sauce in it.

Summer Beer II

Reviewed: May 25, 2014
Yummy! We serve these at our last barbeque. I have to make 3 batches! You can play with the vodka flavor too. I use raspberry flavored vodka and lime flavored beer.

Oma's Rhubarb Cake

Reviewed: May 25, 2014
This recipe, as written, is wonderful. I've made it many times. I also like to change the white sugar out for brown sugar. I also like to add 1/4 cup oatmeal to the strudel topping for a bit of texture. Alea your Oma must have been a wonderful grandmother if she could make something this yummy!

Strawberry Rhubarb Sauce

Reviewed: May 25, 2014
This is fantastic! I'm only giving it 4 stars however because of the added food coloring. It's very bad for you and we've never put in this recipe. It doesn't need it. After 2 or 3 times of making it, we made changes. We add 2 cups of rhubarb and we now leave out the vanilla. I have added a splash of fresh lemon juice, that helps to keep the strawberries red. My sister makes this too and she serves it with her pork roast. Yum!

Chef John's Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2014
We love this recipe and have been making it for years. The only change I make, to cut down on the fat, is to peel and cook an extra potato on the side and mash it up and add to the soup in place of the cream at the end to thicken and add body. I've also used fat free 1/2 & 1/2. I also cut back on the salt a bit.

This recipe is wonderful! It makes for a quick work day lunch as well. Didn't change a thing.

Chef John's Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2014
I've made this recipe as is many many times. That is what the 5 stars are for. However, now I add 2 teaspoons of freshly grated lemon zest to the crust before I finish blending it. I also increase the curd recipe by 1/2. Now the lemon curd sits about 3/4 of an inch above the crust. It's wonderful.

Chef John's Pasta Primavera

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2014
We have been snow and cold bound in the Northeast this winter. Yesterday was the first warm day of the winter. We spend the entire day outside and then came home and made this AMAZING pasta dinner. This recipe is perfect as written. Not even one change is needed. Be sure to use fresh vegetables and really GOOD cheese. I used a combo of Parm and Asiago which I grated by hand. I will be making this again and again in the warmer months.

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

I've made this recipe many times as written and it is delicious. Even though I've made a few changes to it to make it more to my families liking, I'm rating this recipe with 5 stars.

Hangtown Fry with Parmesan and Fresh Herbs

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2014
This recipe was really great. I loved the flavor of fresh herbs with the eggs. To Katydid68, I think it's unfair for you to rate this recipe considering your lack of proper ingredients and several changes. Try it with the correct ingredients and I bet you WILL rate it with 5 stars. Maybe not but at least it will be more fair.

Slow Cooker French Onion Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2014
I've made this recipe many times. It is very good made as written. However, now when I make it I used 2 tablespoons butter and 2 tablespoons of EVOO. I also decrease the sugar to 1 1/2 teaspoons and increase the garlic to 3 cloves. I like using fresh thyme as well.

Blueberry Coffee Cake I

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2013
If I rate a recipe, I've made it once, exactly as written. As written this coffee cake is much to dry. You must increase the milk to 3/4 of a cup. After I increased the milk it was a very good recipe.

Chocolate Trifle

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2013
We had several brownies left over from Holiday function so my daughter and her best friend made this. Even they thought it tasted "store bought". It was all fake chocolate and cool whip flavor. I do not recommend this recipe. There are wonderful true trifle recipes on this sight. Take the time to make one of those.

Easy Shake and Bake Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2013
This was the same recipe my mom used when I was a child. She did add onion powder though. When my sisters and I make it we use only 2 Tablespoons butter or EVOO. We also use garlic and onion powder. A pinch of cayenne is great too.
