Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2008
I never follow recipes exactly, so I had planned on using BBQ sauce along with the ketchup mixture, but found I did not have any. So, I was forced to follow this recipe exactly. I'm Oh so glad I did! Excellent easy recipe. It was a hit with the kids and the husband that constantly compares my cooking to his mom's. He gave it 5 stars too. Thanks so much. I also never write reviews on recipes, but I couldn't help it this time!

Kamikaze

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2007
I tried my first Kamikaze at my reception and it has now replaced the margarita as my favorite drink. This recipe is excellent. It normally takes 3 margaritas to do what one of these does. Thanks so much!

Easy Lasagna II

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2007
Yum! Yum! Yum! Best Lasagna I've ever had! This was my first time making Lasagna, it turned out beautiful! I only had 24oz of Cottage Cheese, so I added 8 more oz of Mozzarella, turned out perfect! I also diced half an onion and sauteed it with the hamburger. Yummy!

Slow Cooker Beef Stew III

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2007
I can only give this recipe 4 stars because I changed it. I give my modifications 5 stars! I omitted the onion soup mix, only because I've used it in other meals and was told by my husband never ever use it again. (I would love to try it with the soup mix because I do like it.) Also, my slow cooker was way to small to make such a quantity, so I ended up transfering everything to my dutch oven and simmered on the stove. I simmered it for 6 hours on medium heat. Also, I substitued 2 cups of water with 2 cups of Wyler's beef broth(cubed). The next time I make it, I will use 4 cups of broth as the stew needed lots of water. Absolutely delicious. I am a novice cook, just barely scratching the surface of possibilities... My husband said it was better than his Mom's stew and better than his Grandma's stew!! What a hit!!

Shepherd's Pie

Absolutely FANTASTIC!! I did take the advice of others by doubling the potatoes. It was PERFECT!! We all loved it so much we ate it for dinner the next night! I give it 5 stars, even though I modified it just a bit!

Chicken and Dumplings II

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2007
Definitely not a recipe for the Novice cook. Forget the 40 min cooking time. The carrots never got done and I cooked it for 1 hr and 40 minutes! I was so dissappointed as this was my first time making chicken and dumplings. I had way too much water stalk, and it was a huge pain to get the gravy to thicken up. If you are making a flour paste for gravy, you don't need 2 parts water to 1 part flour, that defeats the purpose. Just use enough water to make it a runny paste. Next time I'll try a cream of soup recipe.

Arizona Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2007
I absolutely loved it! I changed it a little. I only had 1 cup of diced tomatoes instead of the 2 cups it calls for. I smelled so yummy, however there was not enough "sauce" to it. Maybe because I only had half of the tomatoes? I also cut the chicken into pieces and served it over egg noodles. It would have been better over rice and with some type of sauce to it. Also there was not enough to feed Me, my husband, and my 2 year old. I will definitely make it again, with more modifications!

Salsafied Chicken and Rice

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2007
We loved it! I didn't have salsa, so I used Pace Picante Sauce, the green chilles made a great kick! When I presented it to my husband, he told me he is not fond of salsa and rice, but when he tried it, he asked for more! I changed it by adding chopped onions and chopped tomates, since I wasn't using salsa. And I only used 1/4 of the recommended cheese. It made for an awesome burrito filling the next day!
