About this Cook
I'm a young grandmother with 2 beautiful grandchildren. I'm an avid reader and love to go camping and fishing. My husband and I enjoy touring on our Harley motorcycle.
My favorite things to cook
Just about anything! But, my husband raves about my meatloaf, lasagna, spaghetti, pizza breads, baked steak and gravy, pot roasts! I love to try new recipes and then take them to another level!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Definately would be the holiday cooking! Traditional Thanksgiving meals and Christmas cookies, cakes and pies! I learned to cook from my mother and father. They had me at the kitchen counter when I had to stand on a "Charles Chip" potatoe chip can to reach the sink! Daddy told me I could bone/clean a chicken cleaner than anyone he knew. Believe me, I had plenty of practice!
My cooking triumphs
Learning to cook a turkey that melts in your mouth! Also, baking biscuits that are light and fluffy! Cooking anything that my family and friends come from the table and groan because they've eaten too much!
My cooking tragedies
My first turkey was still uncooked by dinner! Mother told me to cook it in a slow oven and I took her for her word! I baked that turkey for about 14 hours or so at 200 degrees! Mother never learned to make biscuits well but her bread was to die for! So, I never learned to bake biscuits, either! My first biscuits were made when I married my husband. I thought you kneaded biscuit dough like you do bread dough. When I served them to my husband, he threw one out the door to the dog. He said if the dog eats it, I'll eat it! Needless to say, we had to throw the biscuits in the trash. They were hockey pucks! :)

Beer Spuds
Wow! This recipe was awesome! I was looking for something new to cook on my grill and found this recipe. I, too, cut the recipe in half and I used Cajun seasoning for the salt-free spicy seasoning. My husband, who really isn't a pepper fan, really loved it and had three helpings! I used mostly red, yellow and orange peppers with just a little green pepper for color. We had enough leftovers (for the 2 of us) for dinner tonight! I just betcha this would be tasty with smoked sausage or Keilbasa cooked in it, too! Yum! Yum! Thanks for the recipe. I'll definately be making this again!
