French Fried Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2007
These are outstanding! I have made these many times over and my family always gobbles them up. My son even said they are better than any restaurant french fry he has had! I took another reviewers suggestion and blanched them but other than that I followed the recipe to a tee.

Drop Biscuits and Gravy

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2007
I made this last night and my family loved it. The only thing they suggested was to cut the sausage amount down a little bit since it is a very meaty gravy which they don't care too much for. Other than that one request from them they gave it a thumbs up!

Easy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2007
These cookies tasted great and were easy to make. However, don't leave them out for long as they get hard quickly. To combat the hard cookies we just popped them into the microwave for 10 seconds and they tasted like they just came out of the oven! Will make again for sure.

It's Chili by George!!

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2007
Great tasting chili! My family and I have a tradition of having chili on Christmas Eve and rather than have my mom cook it like she always does I thought I would try making it myself. I'm glad I did, bless my mom's heart but this one is much better than hers! I did do a few variations of my own as many others did. I first added 2 more cans of beans than the recipe called for. I also added an extra can of diced tomatoes. My family isn't too hip on anything real spicy so I cut back on the chilipowder (using only half the amount) and the cayenne pepper. All in all it was a great batch of chili. Will make it again very soon!

Chewy Caramel

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2007
Great recipe! I have tried many caramel recipes and this one is by far the easiest. I cooked this twice during the holidays as the first batch didn't last long. I found the best way to make sure I cooked it to 248 degrees exactly was to bring it to that temperature in a cast iron pan and then as soon as it hit the temp I wanted I took it off the burner and continued to stir it for another minute before pouring it into my 8x8 inch pan. I would not recommend continuing to stir it for 3 minutes after you hit your desired temp as the recipe tells you to do since your temp can rise quickly on you and your stuck with rockhard caramel.
