Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2009
I had to try these cookies because they were on the top twenty list. I can see why they are! They are fabulous! I used butter instead of shortning and I used sorgum instead of molassus. They are wonderful. Next time I am going to use orange juice instead of water to see how that changes the flavor. I highly recommend this recipe. They cookies are not only delicious but beautiful as well!

Homemade Angel Food Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2008
Wonderful! Turned out perfectly! I have never made an angel food cake before and had no idea what to expect. The 18 egg whites surprised me a little, but it was well worth it! For all those others out there who are new at angel food cakes, do NOT grease the pan. I greased the bottom of mine and that was the only problem I had. Where I greased the pan the cake stuck and where I didn't it did not stick, but that was my fault. Follow the recipe exactly and don't grease the pan, and you will have a perfectly fluffy and moist angel food cake!

Fried Apple Pies

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2008
WOW! FABULOUS! The only thing I changed was I added a tiny sprinkle of cloves and a sprinkle of nutmeg to the apples as they were cooking, and I baked them for 20 minutes instead of frying them. When I saw the fat content I refused to fry them, but I can't imagine them being any better! As the apples were cooking I chopped them like I would if I was making ground hamburger. This makes a chunkier apple sauce. I also sprinkled them with cinnamon and sugar before putting them in the oven. The crust worked perfectly. I was a little worried with the crust after reading some of the reviews, but it was easy, light and flakey! Use this crust recipe! I had three crusts left over so I had to make one more apple worth of sauce, and I started with three apples so I would use four apples for this recipe. I ended up with 9 baby pies. These are so good and so cute! I love them! They are also so fun to make! Everyone, try them.

Fabulous Fudge Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2007
Delicious! Even though I had a horrid time making this it was not the recipes fault! I forgot to add the cup of boiling water so I hade to take the cake out of the oven (had only been in there a few seconds) and pour it back in the bowl and add the water in! Anyway, despite that, it was delicious. Moist and soft! I used a butter cream icing from this site and then sprinkled crushed chocolate chips on top. I made them into cupcakes. For the chocolate squares I used cocoa because I did not have the squares. It worked perfect because the back of the box told me that for one square of chocolate use 3 tablespoons of cocoa and 1 tablespoon of oil. I used the equivalent of 5 squares like everyone said. Great recipe!

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2007
This is the best apple pie I have ever made! I love how the sauce makes the top crust so crunchy and sugary! I baked the pie for 1 hour and 15 minutes instead of 1 hour because I like the apples to be a little softer. I added some cinnamon to the apples just because I could not imagine an apple pie without cinnamon. This is definitely my new apple pie recipe! I'll never make the old kind again!

Chicken and Dumplings IV

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2007
This was delicious! I changed a lot though. First I cut the chicken breasts into small pieces and completely cooked it with onions, carrots, a little oil, butter and small amount of water to keep it from scorching. I flavored it with onion and garlic powder, parsley, salt, pepper, and red pepper. I then added chicken broth and a can of cream of chicken, and I still did the water and flour mixture. This made it really thick and creamy. I also added hominy. For the dumpling part I used the "Fluffy Biscuit" recipe on this site. They were so good. These were delicious and would be even better during the fall and winter.

This bread was to much like a thick brownie. I did not like it. It might be good made into a cupcake with chocolate chips in it. The taste was okay. I would not make again.

Old-Fashioned Corn Relish

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2007
This is a delicious recipe! It is so good! I love the corn relish that the amish make, so I wanted to make my own with my homegrown sweet corn! I was so happy when I found this recipe! If I do say so myself, mine is as good or better than the amish's!!! I changed this recipe a little. I used brown sugar instead of white, and I only used one cup of tomatoes and put an extra cup of corn. I wanted mine to be more corny! The hardest part was getting the corn of the cob. This is a easy recipe and I am going to make some more to can with the rest of my corn! Thank you so much for this recipe! I love it!

Dried Cherries and Apple Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2007
Five Stars! I loved this pie it was delicious! I did turn the heat down to 375 after ten minutes. I also used cherry pie filling instead of dried cherries. That was all I had and it worked great. I just added 1/4 cup more flour. Also added more cinnamon. I used the Best Ever Pie Crust Recipe that is also on the All Recipe Site! It worked wonderfully! Need to try it! Glad I found both recipes!

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2007
Wonderful! When I saw this recipe on the top 20 list, I knew I had to try it. It was so easy to make! I was a little worried at first because I had no bread flour, and I only had bread machine yeast. But, it worked out fine. It made the best bread I have ever made, and I have tried several recipes. Next time I am going to use a bread machine and see how that works. I did not think it was too sweet in the least. I used the recommended amount of sugar and thought it was perfect. A lot of the other reviews said to cut the sugar in half, I wouldn't. My bread did not raise one inch over the pan, but that is probably because I did not have bread flour. I also put my bread in a 170 degree oven to rise, this worked wonderfully. However, next time I will put a damp towel over it because the top got a little dry. All in all this is the best bread on earth!! Almost one whole loaf was gone before it had even cooled! I just ate two pieces with butter! I am going to have more for supper along side a big bowl of homemade soup! Yum Yum! Thank you so much for this recipe! I printed it, and I am going to make it again and again and again!

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2007
This recipe is divine! They are absolutely delicious! I made them last night, and they are already all gone! I used brown sugar instead of white for the topping, and I changed the recipe to make 12 servings instead of eight. (with the little change recipe button. Very handy by the way!)I probably would not do this again, because I then had to cut an egg in half. Believe me this was not an very easy! This was a wonderful recipe, and I am without a doubt going to make these again. I recommend these to everyone!!
