mother of 4 wonderfull children who know how to make every day an never ending adventure to me. married to the greatest soldier for over 13 years now. i love to bake and cook for friends and family every chance i get. my lastest hobby is thrifty recipes or finding how many meals i can make in a week for as lil of money as possible( guess i am stingy i like keeping my money,,haha)
My favorite things to cook
breads, muffins new deserts and any new crockpot recipes i can try!
My favorite family cooking traditions
every friday i start by making some sort of snacky baked good for the weekend. weekend mornings are a tradition in our house it seems,,new waffle and pancake recipes as often as possible. my children love helping make omeletes with us out of left over meats and veggies from the week.
My cooking triumphs
i don;t know if i would call it a triumph but each month i try to make a huge luncheon meals for my hubby and all the soldiers he works with for lunch.(normally ranging from 15 to 30 people) every month i love to watch their faces as i bring something new in and hear the ohhhhh what have you made this month we are starvinggg. the only bad experiance i have had out of this was watching a 18 yr old new soldier tear up and say my mom makes this exactly the same way.(i felt happy on one hand he enjoyed it but heart broken that i made him home sick)
My cooking tragedies
ahhhhh that would have been june 20th 1996! after returning from a 12 day honeymoon to our first home with my brand new dishes to prepare my hubby his first meal. i had never cooked in my life my grandmother had always done all the cooking. i thought oh cooking is easy i have seen grandma do it make of times it's as easy as drinking a cold glass of wine on a hot day! boy was i wrong!! i pulled out a box of hamburger helper read the back and said all these steps why?..tossed everything in the pot and turned the oven on high(it said boil! haha) then proceded to go outside with hubby to watch hmi mow the grass for the first time. we were so proud to be out on our own...till about 35 to 40 minutes later we heard the fire alarms going off!,,oopsssssssss i had burnt it so bad we ate out for a whole week before i tried cooking anything again,,haha( we did how ever have a great meal that night at chi chi's and our waiter got a really big tip for being so great and bringing us our food so quick
