No Roll Pie Crust II

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2013
Easy. Delicious. Buttery--despite the utter lack of butter in my non-dairy version! In the words of my five-year-old: "This is very, very good!" I made it last night for a chicken pot pie. I used only half the salt (only because I've found that things that taste normal to most people taste super salty to me), used olive oil instead of canola, and soy milk instead of regular milk. Mixed it up in seconds. Then, since I needed a top crust as well as a bottom crust, I mixed it up in a bowl and then took some of the mixture out for the bottom crust and rolled out the rest for the top of the pot pie. It turned out perfectly. I have two pre-made pie crusts sitting in my freezer and I think they will be sitting there for awhile...why bother with pre-made when from-scratch turns out so darn good?! :) Thanks for sharing this recipe--can't wait to try it again!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2011
This recipe is fantastic. I tried it on my husband years ago...he is not a huge apple pie fan, and he loved it! And what's more, it was delicious despite the fact that it was my first time making any sort of pie! Fast forward a few years and now I'm the mom of a three-year-old little girl who loves to help in the kitchen. She's so excited to use the apples we picked over the weekend to bake our Rosh Hashana (Jewish New Year) apple pie...and I'm excited to bake this pie with her! My thoughts are, what better way to celebrate than with a fantastic, homemade, apple pie?! Thanks, Rebecca, for sharing this wonderful recipe from your grandma with the rest of the world...it's a lovely (and delicious) way to remember her! :) -ShiraRG

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2011
This was a WONDERFUL recipe. Why the four stars? Because I did make some changes to make it the delectable dinner that it was. :) The changes I made were: 1. Added tomato sauce to the ketchup to make it a little more "sloppy." 2. Used green, red, and orange peppers for extra color. 3. Added Emeril's southwest spice blend for extra kick. This is not to say that the recipe would not have been great without these changes--just that to my eye/palate these modifications were a good idea. :) Thanks for this recipe--it is a keeper!

Potato Soup with Fish and Cheese

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2008
This was a great recipe! I used haddock instead of cod, and added some spices (black and red pepper) as well as some cloves of fresh garlic. It turned out great--"creamy, smooth, melts-in-your-mouth" says my husband. I accidentally added a bit too much butter and this was a "mistake" worth making!

Pan-Fried Steak with Marsala Sauce

I tweaked this a bit by marinating the meat ahead of time. With that, this was DELICIOUS. One of the best recipes I've gotten from this site!
