Marshmallow Crispy Lemon Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2012
I love the lemon flavor, but I'm just not sure that the pudding and rice krispy textures go together. The krispies do, of course, soften up and get more chewy as the the pie sits. Unfortunately, I definitely do not care for that, either. This is a qgood, uick pie for a last minute dessert that will be served and eaten as soon as it is ready.

Simple Scones

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2011
Followed Caljane's instructions about using food processor, and it worked fabulous. Truly is a simple and easy way to make light scones. Used Raisinets so got both of best worlds -- raisins and chocolate. Yum!

Pumpkin Pancakes with Nutmeg Whipped Cream

Also delicious with imitation rum flavoring instead of vanilla in the whipped cream.

English Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2010
Loved the flavor and texture of these muffins. One recommendation, though -- don't just "sprinkle" the cornmeal on the parchment paper; be generous enough with it that the dough cannot stick at all to the paper. Mine stuck in places, and that caused the dough to deflate as I moved them to the skillet.

Red Velvet Cake VI

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2009
I don't know whether I did something wrong, but the cake flavor was way off. It had a great texture and the distinctive red velvet color, but I never would have identified it as red velvet by the flavor alone. I do agree with Louise that the icing was lovely.

Chip Chicken Lollipops

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2009
Very tasty and easy! I agree with other reviewers that the chicken itself needs some seasoning. To maintain the crispy outer coating an eliminate turning them half way through, I baked the nuggets on a wire cooling rack that I sprayed with nonstick spray and set on top of a jelly roll pan. It allows the air to circulate all around the nuggets.

Slow Cooker Chicken Cordon Bleu

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2009
I added the quintessential crock pot seasoning -- a packet of onion soup mix -- and it added that extra little kick of flavor that the original recipe could be lacking.

Old Fashioned Onion Rings

Reviewed: May 17, 2008
Delicious! Do be sure to keep the oil temp up to about 375 so the rings don't soak up extra oil. I used panko crumbs for the bread crumbs. I ran out before I was finished with the batch so used cornmeal. Definitely not as good as the panko, but it was an acceptable substitute. Used the wet batter on mushrooms, too, with excellent results.

Crusty Potato Bread

Reviewed: May 16, 2008
Fabulous, versatile recipe! I added crushed rosemary, which gives a wonderful aroma and flavor and used garlic salt for the salt. I used the dough cycle on my breadmaker and then shaped them in to rolls. I placed the shaped rolls in a greased pan, covered it tightly with saran wrap (sprayed with non-stick spray as well), and allowed them to rise for about an hour before baking as suggested by other reviewers. Delicious and beautiful!

Mocha Cream Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2008
Reading the ingredients, I can see why it is called "Mocha" bread. I used the Sweet Dough setting on my bread machine as suggested by another reviewer, making the preparation quite simple. However, after tasting it, I would call it simply chocolate chip bread.

Crispy and Creamy Doughnuts

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2008
Loved the recipe and flavor. Decent approximation of KK doughnuts. Just make sure that your breadmaker has enough capacity for the dough. Mine looked kinda like Hiroshima as the dough pushed out the top! Nonetheless, the doughnuts turned out just fine.

Easy and an interesting twist on regular maca and cheese. Definitely did not have the traditional mac and cheese texture, but my husband loved the dish. He has already requested that I make it again.

Melt in Your Mouth Mint Brownies

This is a delicious and more visually appetizing dish when the thin mints are layered INSIDE the brownie. Pour half the batter in the pan, layer the thin mints, then top with remaining batter.

French Brioche

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2008
As the recipe stands, I'd give it 4 stars, but with the alterations suggested by other reviewers, it ws a 5. As suggested, I increased the yeast, sugar (nearly doubled,) and added a pinch more salt. The center of the braid was a bit doughy when baked per the diretions, but I had some difficulty rolling the strips so may have made them too thick (the braid was about 14" long). Delicious served with pulled pork on top. The slightly sweet bread compliments the smokey, BBQ flavor of the pork.

Kalua Pig in a Slow Cooker

Delightfully easy! I forgot to poke the pork before I poured on the liquid smoke, but it still came through nicely. I served it as open-faced sandwiches over French brioche with the Mustard Based BBQ sauce from this site. Oh, so yummy! Versatile recipe that I will definitely make again.

Kalua Pork

Delightfully easy! I used a nearly 6 lb shoulder, and it easily fell apart after just 14 hours of cooking. I forgot to poke the pork before I poured on the liquid smoke, but it still came through nicely. I served it as open-faced sandwiches over French brioche with the Mustard Based BBQ sauce from this site. Oh, so yummy! Versatile recipe that I will definitely make again. Oops...I cannot figure out how to delete this, but this review should be on the Kalua Pig in a Slow Cooker recipe.

Vidalia Ranch Pizza

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2007
Absolutely splendid!! A great flavor combination between the onions, ranch dressing, and tomatoes. I did, however, add some additional garlic salt and pepper to enhance the flavors a bit more. Be sure to let it set a few minutes before trying to cut it to allow the ingredients to cool and set so that they don't slide off when you slice it.

Easy, Cheesy Tortellini Bake

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2007
I completely agree with other reviewers that this recipe requires additional tortellini to keep it from being soupy. Since my husband and I are watching calories, I used a store-bought parmesan & mozzarella white sauce in place of the alfredo sauce. It tastes similar to the alfredo but cuts out about 40 calories per serving, and 5.5 grams of fat.

Burger or Hot Dog Buns

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2007
Fantastic! I added the ingredients as described in the recipe to my breadmaker. This also gave it a rising time prior to forming the balls, as other reviewers wisely suggested. Before baking them, I gave them an egg wash and sprinkled on poppy seeds (my husband wants a Chicago style hot dog). I took the original author's suggestion to make 16 hot dog buns instead of 12 but definitely will not do that again. I ended up with "hot dog buns" that might handle a small stick of beef jerky. I LOVE the taste of the bread, though, so will definitely make it again...maybe even tonight.
