About this Cook
I am a lover of food. Like to try new things but not necessarily difficult things. Although I have made some complex dishes. I am the mother of a 15 year old who is not picky. He loves my cooking and has been eating anything since he was a baby. I live in Alaska so we don't always get the freshest vegies but I like to cook with fresh ingredients whenever possible and like a wide variety of cuisines. I work all week and my favorite thing to do on the weekend is make something yummy!
My favorite things to cook
I am not a fan of baking but I like to cook simple flavorful meal. Anything garlicky, spicy or just tasty.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I go all out on the holidays even when it's just me and my son. My mom wasn't a cook really and so I think I learned from necessity. So my Grandma made the typical delicious holiday meals and I like to cook a large meal for my family and friends.
My cooking triumphs
I make a killer chicken parmesian, lasagna, enchiladas, chilli, biscuts and gravy. I once made a boulliabase from a McCormick and Schmick cook book that was rather intense and turned out great. My favorite thing to do is just throw some things together and have it turn out to be something I make on a regular basis because it was amazing.
My cooking tragedies
The first time I made gravy it turned out like a ball of dough. HA HA. I wouldn't make gravy for years because I was so intimidated but now love to make gravy from scratch. YUM!

Salt and Garlic Bagel Chips
These were very good. I placed mine flat and cut them that way (Sorta looked like an 8) The bagels I had were very dense and firm. I like mine chewy so I cut them thicker. Definately something to play around with but very tasty the way recipe is.

Asian Turkey Barbecue on Sesame Scallion Toasts
I gave this 5 stars because it is so different from traditional left over turkey recipes and was very fast and easy to make. I thought this sounded like an asian barbecue and decided to serve it on ciabatta rolls instead of english muffins. Also made a coleslaw that I added hoisen sauce to and served on the sandwich. YUMMY! Next time I will add some fresh cilantro and maybe a squeeze of fresh lime.
