About this Cook
My cooking triumphs
The moment when my husband informed me that he no longer wanted his favorite dish from the restaurant since I made it better - and healthier! The first time I made baguettes for my family - they were delicious!
My cooking tragedies
No tragedies - just a lot of recipes that I'll not make again.

Black Bean Vegetable Soup
The first time I made this soup, I followed the recipe exactly, and it was wonderful! Since then, I've made it, adding whatever vegetables I have on hand, and it has quickly become one of my family's favorites. I always make a pan of pepper cornbread to serve with it - delicious!

Banana Cream Pie I
This was definitely a good pie, but there are a few changes I made. I used corn starch instead of flour and reduced the sugar slightly to just over 1/2 cup. I also used six medium sized bananas and mixed them into the custard before pouring it into the shell; thinner slices made sure the custard didn't pull away. And finally, I didn't bake the pie - just put it in the fridge to set up and it was ready in about 2 hours! My family devoured the first pie, s I'm glad I made two!

Best Brownies
I doubled the recipe in a 9x13 pan and they turned out wonderfully! My husband - who considers himself a brownie expert - couldn't stop raving about them! I've made them several times and I still haven't tried the frosting. To us, they don't really need it. Great recipe! Thanks for sharing!
