About this Cook
We got married in 2005, and thus began our adventures in cooking. We've learned a lot over the years and always love to try new recipes.
My favorite things to cook
Joel likes to grill; Lauren likes to bake.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Due to a family heart condition, we cook (excluding baking) with healthy methods: grilling, steaming, etc. No butter or frying.
My cooking triumphs
Cape Town Chicken Curry. It's from our church's missionary in South Africa, and we love it!
My cooking tragedies
Stuffed Loin with Cheese & Peppers. It's from another missionary in Greece. I made too many alterations, and it didn't turn out well!

Quiche with Kale, Tomato, and Leek
I made this for dinner, and my one year olds loved it! So did my husband and I, but I was thrilled that my kids ate it. I upped it a little for a 9" pie plate and used swiss chard instead of kale.

Best Fried Green Tomatoes
These were delicious. I made them for a group and got rave reviews. It was too much flour and not enough cornmeal mixture for me. Too much egg/milk too, but you need to be able to submerge them I guess.

Texas Sheet Cake V
I made this in a shallow 9x13, and I needed a deeper pan. I think it would be fine in a regular 9x13. My jelly roll pan was too big.
