I'm a college student who was forced to learn how to cook when I moved out on my own. I never thought I'd love it so much!
My favorite things to cook
I love baking, especially giant, gooey, chewy chocolate chip cookies, cheesecake, and pie. I'm very much into healthy cooking (I LOVE Cooking Light magazine) but am a steak and potatoes girl at heart!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother makes the best chocolate chip cheesecake in the world! I've never been able to make mine taste quite like hers. My father is a grill-master. With their talents combined we eat very well at my house.
My cooking triumphs
I think I have come close to perfecting the chocolate chip cookie, which is one of my main goals for college! I've found that the key is just the right blend of brown sugar and white sugar (maybe some pudding mix), a low temperature, and a long baking time. Stay AWAY from recipes that use no white sugar!
My cooking tragedies
My first attempt at Potica... It was terrible!

Ratatouille
Delicious and healthy! The only problems I had were that I felt like the onions were way too crunchy and so I would sautee them for just a little bit before putting them in the casserole. I also felt like the Parmesan was unnecessary and so I omitted it. I served this over mashed potatoes.

One Bowl Chocolate Cake III
Absolutely perfect! I used 4 stars because I did agree that 1 full cup of cocoa was the right amount. I also replaced the water with adagio.com Birthday Cake tea. Friends of mine have replaced the water with Dr. Pepper and coffee, so I suppose the possibilities are endless. I frosted it with peanut butter frosting from the Peanut Butter Cake recipe on this website. YUM YUM YUM!

Cheesy Polenta
I used a mix of mozzarella and Parmesan, and it turned out great!
