About this Cook
Family of four, oldest is off to college, youngest is 14. While we scatter about during the day, we have dinner together 97% of the time.
My favorite things to cook
I'm a sucker for a good sauce. I prefer to saute, deglaze and whip up something great.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Everyone stays out of the kitchen until I call. Then, the table gets set, the wine gets uncorked, and we're ready to go.
My cooking triumphs
The first time I tried a Bearnaise sauce. When I figured out how to grill the perfect steak, and no mom, it's not well-done.
My cooking tragedies
Shepherd's Pie, my first year of marriage. Turned out to be greasy ground beef, with flavorless mashed potatoes. Haven't tried again.

Lemon Cream Pasta with Chicken
I've made this recipe several times as written. However, today it was a little different. My oldest son was home from college and we ended up visiting a little too long. So, I picked up a rotisserie chicken from the take home department of the grocery store and used that instead of baking the chicken. It cuts the time down significantly. I cleaned/cut up the chicken while the pasta was boiling. Whipped it together in a little over half an hour- start to finish. Delicious as written and great as modified! Served with roasted asparagus and some crunchy sourdough. Practically perfect. Plus hubby enjoyed the dark meat addition.

Baked Garlic Green Beans
It moves up to five stars if you use fresh green beans (usually about a pound) blanched for 5 minutes, and balsamic vinegar- either white or regular.

Basil Vinaigrette Dressing
Rave reviews every time I serve. I use primarily with pasta salad, using the five steps as published in USA today.
