Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2009
This is a 5 star recipe as long as you add 3 cups confectioners sugar instead of two. Perfect sweetness and cream cheese combo. I made this frosting for a baby shower cake and tinted it ivory. It spread nicely and held up well after being refrigerated overnight and then set out at room temperature for a few hours. People complimented the frosting over and over. I also layered the cake with this frosting in between layers and it was so tasty!

Cinnamon Rolls II

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2009
These were delicious. I used 8 ounces of cream cheese as others suggested. It was perfect. I also used half light and half dark brown sugar because that's all I had on hand. I had some tightly packed in one pan and just a few spread out in my second one. The packed ones came out moist and delicious and the others were hard on the outside and burnt a little on the bottom. Next time I'll make sure I have enough to tightly pack both pans. I added extra filling and next time I'll add more cinnamon too. I also spread melted butter on the tops halfway through baking and they came out wonderful!

Strawberry Fruit Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2008
This was delicious. I love strawberries but can't stand their tartness so I thought I'd give this dip a try. It was perfect. Not too sweet. Easy to dip when cool, not cold. Mine turned out nice, light and fluffy. I didn't refrigerate it before eating. I will definitely use this dip again and again and try it with plain cream cheese as well!

Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2008
This rating is based on other reviewers changes. Absolutely delicious! I omitted the ketchup, added a can of cream of mushroom, a Lipton onion soup packet and doubled the sauce for my garlic mashed potatoes. I used italian bread crumbs because that's all I had on hand. It was very oniony which we loved. I browned it in the skillet and placed in a foil lined casserole dish, drizzled with sauce and covered with foil. Baked at 400 for about 25-30 min. It came out absolutely perfect! My entire family enjoyed it. Even my picky 7 year old daughter. My husband told me to keep the recipe forever.

Old-Fashioned Lemonade

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2008
YUM!!! This is what I've been looking for. An old fashioned recipe with no corn syrup, aspartame, etc. I actually upped it to 8 lemons with 7 cups of water and 1 cup sugar. I like mine sour :) The tip to microwave them after rolling them on the counter was great. Nothing tops homemade lemonade.

I was short on time and wanted to make my kids something so I found this. They love it and so do I! Super easy and super quick. Hearty enough to be dinner. I used Hormel no bean chili, shredded cheddar and Kraft mac n cheese. Yum!!

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2008
My daughter loves this! I changed it up a bit like others suggested. I added the 1/4 Worcestershire sauce to the meat, didn't have beef broth so I added 1 bullion cube and a cup of water and about 1 tbsp of seasoning salt. I used 1 bag of Birds Eye frozen mixed veggies. I didn't have onion so I added green onions with the cheddar on top of the potatoes. I added about a half cup of sour cream and a tbsp of seasoning salt to my potatoes as well. Delicious!

Quick and Spicy Chili

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2008
This was delicious! I had to tweak it a bit for the ingredients I had on hand. I used 1 can kidney beans and 1 can black beans. I only used 3 tbsp of chili powder. I used a yellow onion instead of red. I cut out the flour and peppers. I used garlic powder instead of whole garlic and frozen corn instead of canned. Also, I added 1 can of stewed tomatoes because I am a tomato freak. It turned out so perfect! This is my new go to chili recipe.

Disappearing Marshmallow Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2007
These were pretty good. I didn't have butterscotch chips so I just used extra semi-sweet chocolate chips. I'm sure it would be very tasty with the butterscotch. As mentioned, these are not good warm. I popped mine in the fridge after they cooled a little and tried them chilled. Very good. Will try again with butterscotch chips!

Easy Caramelized Onion Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2007
WOW! This is a new staple in my cook book. I used bone-in pork chops & chicken broth instead of water. I took the chops out after the 20 min. simmer and added corn starch to the onions to thicken it up. It was absolutely delicious. Even my toddler and 5 year old ate every bite!

Chocolate Surprise Cupcakes

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2007
These are AMAZING!! I did make a couple of changes though. I used apple cider vinegar b/c that's all I had on hand. I added 3/4 cup of sugar and about 1/4 - 1/2 cup chocolate chips to the batter to sweeten it. They came out wonderfully. Next time I will probably make more filling, b/c I made 24 cupcakes and only had enough filling for about 20. I had some batter left over too and probably could have made more if I had more filling.

Hot Chicken Salad II

Reviewed: May 28, 2007
This is great! I did make a few changes though. I used Miracle Whip instead of mayonnaise (personal preference). I omitted the mushrooms and water chestnuts. As others suggested I used 3/4 cup shredded cheddar, 4 oz. of cream cheese, about a tsp. each of parsley, basil, garlic salt, pepper, salt. I used italian bread crumbs instead of crackers because I was out of crackers. I also added about a 1/3 cup of diced red bell pepper and onion which gave it a great zip! I cooked the bell pepper, celery, and onion together to soften up the veggies before going in the oven. It turned out great!

Italian Chicken

Reviewed: May 10, 2007
My husband and kids loved this recipe! I did as the others and put the chicken in a ziploc bag and let it sit for a few hours. I also added some italian bread crumbs and garlic powder to the cheese. Yum! I poured the marinade over the cooked chicken before serving, and used some extra for dipping.

Cream Cheese Cookies III

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2007
These weren't at all cookies, but were very good. I added white baking chocolate to the the cream cheese mixture and chocolate chips on top. The white chocolate was great but I think I'll leave out the chocolate chips next time. Yummy!

Chocolate Orange Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2007
These cookies were amazing! My husband and daughter ate them up! I followed the others advice and added a bit more flour, used cocoa powder, and divided them into two logs (which I refrigerated), and they came out wonderful! Very easy to make.
