I'm now in my 63rd year with 50 years cooking experience I love being in my kitchen. I have over 2,000 recipe books and have used them all,not meaning I've cooked everything in all. I must say though since I've been using web-sites for recipes in the past 4 yrs. there's not enough hours in a day for me to do cooking as I'd finish up like the side of a house (obese). I would like to be able to cook all day long every day as there are so many beautiful recipes in all catogaries and all types of cuisines.Besides cooking I been making porcelain dolls for 25yrs. from pouring the porcelain to painting and dressing including the wigs at times.I've been active in Lions International for 20yrs, currently V.Pres. raising funds for various International needs and physically helping others in need. For the past 15yrs.my husband and I find 2mths. every year to travel somewhere different be it nationally or internationally as I appreciate everything my Lord and maker has given us all.
My favorite things to cook
My specialty is gourmet ice-creams, then anything I can find with fresh salmon also anything/everything with lemons love their flavour. At the moment I'm deeply into Sweet Breads with banana base and what ever else I can find, I love experimenting with all recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Our children tell me it's "Nana's Noodles" (my mother's Tomato and Pasta dish)also her "Self-Saucing Chocolate Pudding" as well as her mother's (my grand-mother's) "Christmas Pudding" and "Christmas Cake".I even have their original hand written copies of the Christmas pudding and cake framed and hanging up in my kitchen, still with the original few splashes of mixture over them, which I feel adds character to them. I'm a bit of a sentimentalist.
My cooking triumphs
I can't really answer this as I've had so many over the years, but I'd have to say my grand-mother's Christmas cake and pudding, my husband would say my ice-creams.
My cooking tragedies
I've had only a few failures in my time, but the one major tragedy that sticks in my mind was when I was about 10yrs old. My mother had left me in the care of my older brother and we decided to make "Toffee Apples", we finished up not just throwing out the pot but put it in our neighbours garbage so that mum wouldn't find it.
