I live in Maryland and work in the technology field. I started cooking at about age 10 when my mother became a Brownie troop leader after school and needed a subsitute cook. She left me detailed written instructions so I could have dinner ready for our family of six, promptly at 5:30! There have been many trials since then but I now feel very comfortable in a kitchen.
My favorite things to cook
Everything from meats and stews to baked goods. I have a few old standbys but I prefer to try new things. I like simpler meals without a lot of fanfare. Even for company, I'm more likely to make a meatloaf than a standing rib.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Shubert Tea Bread - a delicious coffee cake we make on Christmas. Passed down though three generations.
My cooking triumphs
Many people call me a good cook, but to be honest I cook what I like! Every meal that people walk away from sated and happy is a triumph.
My cooking tragedies
I don't make pies. Enough about that.
