Bienvenido! My name is Kaley, a college student studying..a range of topics. I've interests in psychology, anthropology- linguistics particularly- food and fitness, travel, and animals. My birth year is 1992 so I like to think that I've still some time to explore my options. Dietitian? Spanish teacher? I originally came upon Allrecipes for a school assignment in Home Ec eighth grade, in which we were to make a recipe in front of the class (I ended up making Chewy Granola Bars). Since then this site has gone through a lot with me; from getting over a four-year siege of anorexia, to learn how to zest a lemon, to properly pronouncing 'ganache'. Coming from a family that goes to fast food for at least a meal a day and never bothers to read a food label, this site has been a great inspiration.
My favorite things to cook
I have a maaajor sweet tooth. It's almost shameful. I like making cute postres, healthy snacks, and nutritious meals that win over the picky, uber boring family.
My cooking triumphs
I'm known in my family as the baker. and am quite proud of it. Come to me, I will make your tummy happy!
My cooking tragedies
Going too far in modifying a dish to be healthy where no one will eat it and I'm left to either stomach it down or toss it.

German Chocolate Pie
I LOVED IT !!! Made this chocolate coconutty deliciousness for Thanksgiving, an def for dates in the future. I followed the recipe exact, though used some whipping cream because my milk was skim. I also tasted the coconut layer out of the pan, thought it wasn't flavorful enough, an added a gush of vanilla. Not recommended. It's already terrific, inside and out. I did have quarry about the cooled chocolate 'pudding'. It was shiney with oil, lil puddles decorating the surface, I used a couple paper towels to soak it up and mooved on. My pie was baked in a chocolate Oreo crust that I thought went great, or rather what I could taste after trying to saw it out of the pan. Next time I'll be prepared! Thank you so much! Again-such wonderful, nommy, german chocolate pleasure.

Pumpkin Roll I
Hesitant on whether to rate this a four or five; until I experiment with other recipes, a five will do. Is it just me or does flour not mix well with pumpkin? It was like an off-white marble affect that could look cool, but to me, the baker, it's aggravating. I'm not sure I love the the texture of the cake either..but maybe that's because it's a sponge cake? Maybe..I'll keep trying; they're fun!! thanks for making it so easy an anti-climatic ;)

Pound Cake III
Followed recipe exactly, with exception of forgetting the sugar and vigorously beating it in after the eggs. It's delicious! I've already eaten too much. Perfect for the strawberry trifle birthday dessert
