I'm African-American woman, I'm 44 yrs.old, I'm a Care Giver to my mother. I'm slowly learning from my mother on how to cook her way. Which is the right way to cook. My way so far is much more slower.
My favorite things to cook
I prefer to bake that is what I grew up doing. My first was a white cake while using wax paper on the bottom of the pan. German Chocolate cake, but only 2 layers. Red Velvet is my next project. But I do pies too. Just No-Bake's is what I can handle.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Enjoy what mis-stakes you make,then eat the problem if you can"hoping it's not badly burned". Try,try again.
My cooking triumphs
The white cake was my first and it didn't burn on the bottom. Moist,sweet, so good I forgot to add a frosting.
My cooking tragedies
I can burn soup,rice,and onion's, toast, sunny side up eggs by walking away from the pan. A Lesson learned. Don't sign onto the computer then try to make soup,rice,onion's needed in a recipe.

I love tuna fish salad, just add Ritz Crackers and have smaller bites.

Fruit Salad in Seconds
Thank You Cathy Byron : I enjoyed this so much that I sent to all of my 5 sister's. I added my own unique fruits by using just 2 canned fruit: pineapple tidbit's & mandarin orange's with the fruit above but no banana's. Then I also used angel food cake shaped like a loaf & Kraft's non-dairy Cool Whip. My yogurt choice was vanilla. I liked how the yogurt & fruit natural juices w/ no sugar added. Made a little sauce which I poured over the cake & added topping. I enjoyed this so that I use the fruit to go w/breakfast, and mini parfait's. I made this just for me, next I'm changing it for 3 servings.

Quick Chili I
I added the Red Gold brand Sloppy Joe Original Sauce 1 can 15.oz,Brooks mild chili beans in chili sauce can,1 pound of hamburger meat. From another viewer's advice. And 1 cinnamon stick & I had no cocoa powder so I added a couple of shakes of instant Dark Chocolate Sensation Swiss Miss packet. But over all that's what I added and it turned out great. Mine is so mild I did change the serving size down to 4 servings & put it in [a slow cooker or Crock Pot for 3-4 hours on low.]Then I'll add cheese to each bowl & I know it's weird but we like chili w/ plain spaghetti or elbow macaroni.add little butter on top pour the chili over and don't for get the crackers. Now that's a meal. I know when I make chili we can eat this for at least 3 days. So it will change to be a topping on hot dogs, no pasta. So it's chili dogs w/ cheese. So thank You Pam Smith for your Unique Chunky Chili.
