Scalloped Corn II

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
This is the way my mother used to make scalloped corn. The only difference is we added 1 egg for each can of corn, 1/2 cup of half and half or mild, 1-2 tsp. of onion salt and pepper. It is delicious and my grown sons request the recipe to make it themselves.

French Dip Sandwiches

I love the ease of making this meal for family get togethers. Put it in the crockpot and it takes care of itself. I usually serve with a macaroni salad on the side.

Pigs in The Blanket

Reviewed: May 15, 2008
A family favorite for us. It is the main dish and I make with mashed potatoes for a side dish. Love to prepare this in advance and freeze until needed. Then I thaw in the refrigerator overnight and bake the next day. Gives me a day off from cooking.

Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: May 15, 2008
This recipe is great for a family gathering. It is a little different from the traditional green bean casserole made with mushroom soup. I like the crunch on top from the cornflakes.

I used 1/2 package of onion soup mix, eliminated the chopped onion and added 2 tsp of beef bouillon granules. It was delicious. Some may want to add mushrooms also.

Hungarian Goulash II

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2008
I followed the suggestion to use seasoned flour (I added a little chipolte seasoning, salt, & pepper) to coat the beef before putting it in the crockpot. I used all the ingredients in the recipe as stated except for I used 1 tsp dijon mustard and 1 tsp. chipotle pepper in adobo sauce that I added to the food processor when I chopped the onions, plus two dashes hot sauce. It gave the dish a mild "kick". I also served with a dollop of sour cream on top and it was delicious! Thanks for the recipe--so easy and yummy!

Husband's Delight

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2008
There are great ingredients in this casserole but it lacked pizzazz. It was bland and dried out. We usually love leftovers, but not with this recipe. I don't think I'll make it again.

Indiana-Style Fried Cabbage

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2007
This was just above average in taste and texture. I looked for shortcuts to time spent in preparing the dish so I used pre-cut cabbage. I also did not like all the grease and butter, so drained the bacon grease and used less butter. I would make it again, if time permits. Most often I look for something with less prep time.
