About this Cook
I grew up in the Bowie/Crofton area of Maryland, and went to College in Towson Maryland. Relocated to the Chicago area (suburbs) in 2003 for work and have been here ever since. I miss the eastern shore, especially all of the shellfish and particularly steamed blue crabs!
My favorite things to cook
My husband and I actually love smoking all sorts of meat in the months where it is warm enough. We also love experimenting with different methods of meat preparation / cooking i.e., brining, deep frying. I also love making all kinds of appetizers.

Finding different ways to cook a turkey on Thanksgiving!
My cooking triumphs
Just made my first prime rib on Christmas. I had always been nervous to cook one because it's such an expensive cut. Turned out perfect, and I just made another one on New Year's Day.
My cooking tragedies
I always seem to screw up pizza crust. It is either too sticky, or turns out too floppy after cooking. When I make pizza dough from scratch, I always make sure I have a can of the refrigerated crust in the fridge. This is the next challenge I need to overcome!

Fried Cinnamon Strips
Wow is all I can say. I just made these on a whim and I cannot stop eating them. I think I need to hide them and keep them a secret from the family! I used peanut oil and a deep fryer. I ran out of big ziploc bags so I poured the cinnamon sugar on a plate and just coated them by tossing them around. I also used super fine baking sogar

Simple Garlic Shrimp
I made exactly as directed and wish I had purchased two pounds of shrimp because I could have easily scared down two servings! I agree with previous reviewers on the caper brine. Try not to skip it because it adds and extra tangy flavor that lemon juice alone doesn't have. Bonus is this was very fast to prepare so have your ingredients pre prepared so the shrimp dont overcook. Will make again!

Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabobs
I have been making this for about a year now and realized I hadnt left a review! This is delicious, the chicken turns out sooooo tender. I process the Rosemary in a little food processor/chopper, just quicker than mincing by hand. I also use chicken tenderloins so I don't have to thread chunks onto skewers. Just cook them directly on the grill. Otherwise I make the marinade exactly as described. My husband and kids can't get enough!!
